I agree! When I first heard this song I was literally hypnotize into listening to it in layers. It had taken me twenty times to let it go and get some rest from such a beautiful musical manuscript: lyrics, the guitar, the baseline, the keyboard! I couldn’t let it go. I try to play it every year on Earth Day in appreciation of plants and our sustenance from them! Thanking Steveland Mooris for musically appreciating and articulating a masterpiece about plants!

My sentiments exactly. This album went platinum overseas. The level of Genius is more than anyone could hope for. The ability Stevie Wonder had in taking us another Direction was astounding. For some of us it was a biological exploration about the plant life up close and personal. Thank you Mr Morris for all of your creative works.

This man has been a part of my life from way back when he visited our home in Jamaica. I was about 6 or 7 and he was about 22. I got to listen to him and breathe him in completely. My life has been surrounded by his songs ever since. This album at first seemed disappointing but when you're a true Stevie disciple you play it over and over again until you see the beauty hidden right below the surface. I learned about how important music was and how sounds were so important to stimulate your mind. This album came out when I just turned 14 and I remember how I felt that anything was possible and how I was going to do great things in life. Life tends to beat this out of you when reality slowly takes over as you grow older. Still, listening to this tune brings tears of what could have been.

My favorite Stevie Wonder album. Critics completely missed the point that the hit was the entire album, not a particular song, the entire emotional journey, not the individual catchy tune. The result is priceless, a huge musician at his peak doing whatever his soul dictates.

A beautiful and rather haunting album I discovered in my uncle's record collection back in 1983 when I had just left school. Had no idea that it was the soundtrack of a film of the same name as the album. I loved the way that the album title was also written in braille on the album cover. I bought the CD years later and can say that it is still probably my favourite album out of all my Stevie Wonder albums.

Simply a Masterpiece. This should be the theme song for Earth Day! Native American Indians will teach you that our Earth will live longer than we humans and we should respect it for the abundant "gifts" we receive from it with out question. Stevie, "GOT IT" and eloquently penned a "spot-on" masterpiece with this song in 1979, nine years after the first Earth Day!

@Patrick McCallum good answer
@kevinbland
3 жыл бұрын
@Patrick McCallum yes. They pulled the boat but it veered into the lily pads and they rescued him out of it. They cleared the path where he walked and lip synced. They say he has a counting method to remember his steps. The movie was supposed to be limited released but was indefinitely postponed. He did a few concerts in the California area and it was well received. Stevie called it a big mistake and rarely speaks about it although it is a collectors item. The album has a huge following and is considered by many to be his best work. The Japanese love the album and "A seeds a Star has been covered by one of their bands and was sung on their Idol contest show. 'Come back as a Flower" and "Power Flower" are jazz standards even today. If Stevie had released a commercial pop album at the same time this would have been considered a special project piece. Past time paradise and Summer soft were considered being placed on this album. They rushed out Hotter than July after this and the album became the mark of his so called greatest period with the 5 albums before. Music of my Mind, Talking Book, Innervisions, Fullfillingness' First Finale, and Songs in the Key of life. Mike Sembello and Syreeta helped with the writing on Secret Life of Plants album. Forgive me if I got some of this inaccurately. Been a long time.
