Gotta admit, as much as I love Andy and everything that transpired after this point, the rawness with Henri is pretty fucking cool.

The great sound of my youth. Those two first albums coincided with me passing my car test and going from motorbike (cold and wet - it still is in the summer of ‘24) to car (warm and dry). Then the purchase of a Dixons Prinzsound cassette player (no rewind, only fast forward or was it the other way) for £19.99 That vibe blasting out of the 1968 Mk11 Ford Cortina (£165 if you’re interested) was amazing. A love of music and cars lasting for long after the tapes wore out. Thank you Mr Copeland for influencing generations, before influencers became a thing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@crnkmnky

@@nkmcfrln no, let Phil cook. Perhaps the phrasing is off, but the rhythm section is indeed the pulse of a band. I assume there _have_ been popular rock bands with lousy drummers. Can you name any?
@nkmcfrln
3 ай бұрын
@@crnkmnkySaying that there are bands with musicians that are better than the drummer is not saying the drummer is “lousy.” Ben Shepherd was just the best musician in Soundgarden according to the rest of the band. Charlie Watts was not the best musician in The Rolling Stones. That’s not saying he’s lousy. The bass guitarist and the drummer are not always there to provide a backbeat and play in sync. The bass and the drums were lead instruments in The Who.
@crnkmnky

@@nkmcfrln Unless Phil comes back, we're left here to speculate: I think you're still misreading the comment. Nobody said anything about the drummer always being the best musician. More about how the drummer's capabilities uniquely impact a band's ultimate potential. I dunno…

Jazz musicians playing punk. I understand the concept of shaping something for commercial success, but punk really never was that. I'm perplexed by this. Whatever the case, if this was necessary for what was to come, I'm fine with it.
