I'm pushing 70. I'm not really a big fan of this genre, with the mandatory sludge guitars & speed metal drum thrashings. But right from the get go, this song alerted me that it was special. These guys are truly passionate & dedicated & visionary. It honestly speaks to me, at the deepest levels, and I really, really like it. This is great music!

I listened to these guys for the first time around 2 years ago. I was totally depressed, at the point that I really thought about killing myself, but then I found this song and a couple weeks after I had downloaded all of their discography. They made me recover some kind of hope, it's really amazing how music can change your life

I think a lot of us can relate to this comment. My friend showed me this song when we were both in middle school. This song is largely responsible for getting me into STYG and hardcore as a whole. It’s such an amazing feeling coming back to this song and reflecting on all the hardship and growth I’ve been through since I first heard this song all those years ago (I am 26 years old now).

Her name is amber She has eyes like her mother She's beautiful and bright the whole worlds in front of her She has a smile that could end a war Yet no one wants her and she has nothing to care for She's only 14 and she thinks Why is the weight of the world crashing down on me 'Cause as of late the sun doesn't seem to shine so bright And the place where my heart once was has lost its fight She's on her own And as she's braves her storm All alone She screams oh I've had enough please make this go This sea is rough and I'm drowning slow Her mind numbing pain has her lost in the undertow I just wish she knew she didn't have to be alone You don't have to be alone You're not alone You're not alone Her arms are locked in the devil's chains And her heart, broken and trapped in a steel cage She can't catch her breath as she chokes on the pain So she brings her pain to the surface of her skin Your frozen agony burns you Can't even begin to know the nightmare that you've been through Only you can break the cycle that plagues you There is a light you just have to see it through She's on her own And as she's braves her storm All alone She screams oh I've had enough please make this go This sea is rough and I'm drowning slow Her mind numbing pain has her lost in the undertow I just wish she knew she didn't have to be alone She screams oh I've had enough please make this go This sea is rough and I'm drowning slow Her mind numbing pain has her lost in the undertow But braves her storm You are not alone

i listen to bands who talk about sensitive subjects like this, and you wonder to yourself if they actually truly care. i know, "why would they write a song about it if they didnt", but dont be so eluded. do they sincerely fucking care. how can you know for sure, wtf have they been through. thats something id like to know.

USMC7100 Not only did the band feature Samuel Perkins' friends in a later video (Against Them All), dedicate the video to Perkins AND play at his memorial show, but they included a number for suicide assistance. I get it, they come from Orange County, but people have issues everywhere. You don't need to have suicidal thoughts to get that it's a serious issue and one that few have the balls to talk about.
