I'd rather pick a heavier or lighter blade in the shop. The weight in the bottom will also not change the speed of the blade itself. Maybe you'll have a bit less vibration with a heavier weight and you could bring the balance point closer to the handle. That might be good for defending, but since this is an offensive blade, I think it's kinda pointless.

Good idea, reminds me of golf club weight systems for drawing and fading. Not sure I'd want to add 9g to the overall weight of my set up on the other hand. Ideally it would be better to have a system of shifting the balance from head to handle without changing the overall weight in a sliding weight method, similar to golf clubs, possibly some kind of weight distribution inside the handle. I have been using cybershape carbon for 2 month and I don't think I will ever go back to an oval shaped blade again.

After watching clips about the cybershape bat, I decuded to make one....raided the wife's chopping board collection as there was one that was the right thickness. Drew the shape, cut the board and handle in one piece, made wooden inserts to finish the handle, glue on a pair of sticky rubbers..job done and there is a nice flex in it as well.....all remains is to be able to play table tennis like these guys!

I recently tried out Cybershape Carbon blade with rubbers FH 2mm Tibhar K3, BH 2mmVictas 07 Super sticky coming from my reference set up Viscaria with FH 2mm K3 Tiber K3, BH Tenergy FX 2mm. The Stand out features of the CyberShape blade are 1] the way you can use the Cybershape angles and edges as a visual feedback reference when making a stroke especially backhand and in service. Practically the Cybershape is potentially a great aid to training and improving your technique as it makes you more conscious of where you are aligning the contact point with the stroke.

The new weight adjusting technology is a great idea. We've all wished we could have a slightly heavier or lighter version of our blade at some stage. But I have a love-hate relationship with TT daily,: love watching your cool videos but hate the way that you keep making me want to test new equipment😂 I definitely want to have a hit one day with the wood cybershape. I found the carbon one too hard and unforgiving for my close-to-the-table counter game.

As I understood it, the Cybershape was made to increase the sweet spot of the blade. I thought that all carbon fiber blades already expanded that sweet spot, so this expansion would matter with a wood blade. Would you say that this sweet spot was expanded with the wooden and carbon fiber? I may not understand sweet spots, so correct me if I’m wrong.

CWT isn't new, Donic were the first introduce them. The handle was hollow, with a tray that would slide out from the bottom of the handle, containing three slots and a weight, the overall bat weight would remain the same, but you would be able to control the weight distribution. Depending on which slot you use.

I don't quite understand why top spin is rated so low relative to other blades. If it's flexible, shouldn't it be able to generate more top spin due to longer dwell time? But in the chart it seems like the less flexible the blade is the higher the top spin rating. Am I not understanding the meaning of top spin here?

I have a question at Tom Since you're using the Cybershape a lot Does it feel for you very top heavy? I switched from the Timo Boll ALC to the Cybershape and i love the feeling but it's very top heavy for me and I happen to overswing a lot Would be great if you could tell me your opinion
@tattedtabletennisplayer

I agree. I have been using the Timo Boll ALC for the last two years and have been trying out the Cybershape. Feels too top heavy/just heavier in general for me. Wanted to try it out but I’ll be going back to my Timo Boll.
@badweirdguy1066
Жыл бұрын
It’s supposed to be too heavy. Having more weight at the top allows the player to put more force into the ball when hitting it near the tip of the blade. With a very top heavy blade a player can do some insane spin off the serve when hitting near the top.

I've switched to a penhold grip lately and ordered a blade which, apart from the not optimal handle, turned out to be way to top heavy (in combination with the rubber). Can you recommend the non-carbon version (maybe incl. the cwt technology)?
@tonydare7614
Жыл бұрын
Geek question: are all-wood blades, with greater dwell, better at imparting spin and therefore good for topspins? The chart seems to indicate that all the non-carbon blades are worse for topsins, which isn't necessarily my experience.
@leonawroth2516
Жыл бұрын
That's also what I was wondering. I'm only at advanced level, having played for 5 years now in a team. I still have an all wood All+ blade and would like to have something faster. I play with a lot of spin, try to loop early and surprise with serves. Don't need the fastest blade, but still some control. I was reading lately, that therefor wood is good with longer dwell time, because the ball digs deeper into the blade and get more spin. Maybe an inner layer of carbon for more speed. Outer carbon apparently removes some spin, but gives more speed.
@tonydare7614

Speed comes from technique. You could play 2nd Bundesliga level with a Stiga Allround classic or a Grubba All+, much slower blades than this. 95% of players will not benefit from a blade faster than this. The truth is most of the carbon blades sold to amateurs are making them worse players. The carbon/composite blade market should be tiny, reserved only for those top echelon of players and a number of niche hitting styles, but people like to play what pros use and are generally deluded about their abilities.

@@tommaynard8101 Not trying to be an arse to you. It's just a little pet peeve of mine, which I am still trying to eliminate from my own speech. Words have meanings and the better we use them the better our communication will be. It seems that the smart phone age has caused the English language to deteriorate drastically. Words are being used incorrectly on purpose too often (a lot of the time the words are being used to actually mean the opposite of themselves) and it's causing everyone to struggle to communicate with each other effectively, just like what occurs in 1984 by George Orwell. Just ask yourself this: What is a 'vaccine' and why is that word being used erroneously so much? Would that be because that word implies an effectiveness and the thing that it's being wrongly used to describe doesn't actually live up to anything close to that sort of effectiveness? Would it make the most money, if this thing was implied to be effective versus experimental? Hmm... Here's another fantastic set of examples: 'diversity' and 'inclusion'. When those words are being used, the exact opposite is actually happening. And generally, what they mean is "the exclusion of Caucasians". This is why the proper usage of words has become such an important crusade these days. Don't take it personally though, mate.

Hi guys.... "CWT" is NOT a new thing or innovation. Nearly every 'racket' or 'striking implement' type sport I have ever played has used this technology. It is called "Back Weighting" Mostly it is done with lead tape either on the handle or even anywhere around the head to change or 'bias' the weighting and/or speed of follow through or the inertia at impact through the ball to suit your needs. Lead tape is secure, can be changed easily for any weight and comes in normal and high density thickness. It has also been used in the handle with a screw/weight system that moves the weight from the back of the handle to any position within the handle by twisting the screw. Though I have not been a fan of that due to vibrations. You don't mention this so I assume the rare earth magnets are quite strong. Yes? So do you feel vibrations from them?
