Why do people seem to think all kids are stupid. If you teach them something, they damn well pick it up! I am assuming his old man ran him through the paces many a times before he let him grab a hold of that saw. Also, you can tell from the video that he is confident, which goes a very long way. With the right teaching and muscle control most six year olds would be much much much better on a saw than the average adult. Just because your older and stronger doesn't make you better at it.

It's not irresponsible to teach him to do it right young and early. I bet you that kid is safer than 75% of chainsaw users today. Good job to the kid. I'm 14 and use a husqvarna 55 and my grandpa thought me to run a saw when I was 8 and I still use one today
I love it! Forget those mamby pamby naysayers that will think this is wrong. The kid is in a controlled environment, wearing his PPE, and is being taught by a good father how to earn a good days wages.

I handled the first time a chainsaw at the age of 8, it was a old sachs dolmar 112. I maked one cut and then i was exausted. But i tried and tried and now at the age of 15 i can cut like a semi professional worker. I already cut down trees with diameter up to 65 cm. That young boy is doing a good work. The Stihl ms 171 is a little handy saw and the boy has no problem using it. For the protection I got my first protective pants and boots last year. Before I already cutted but when you take care and pay attention you dont have accidents....

looks good. my four year old is done with toy tools too. he is bigger than your boy and he's four. I will let him loose with the cordless drill, hammer and nails, and even the controls on the splitter...... gotta be quick with my hands. he wants to help with everything. however there are stop signs.... chipper, table saw, nail gun, circular saw, and most certainly the chainsaw.. you can't turn back time his foot is underneath and no chaps. good job with the helmet which won't do him a GD bit of good if things go wrong.

well the chain brake engages automatically if a kickback happens, i can explain how it works, but i dont really feel like typing it out, lol, hes taught his son well at an early age, so when he grows up, he'll be an expert and will know how to avoid an accident
@albinaxhami2693

It's activated manual by hand or by the inertia of the kickback. You can try if it works by dropping the saw 1 feet high if it engages it works

Teaching a youngster to run a saw at 6 may seem like poor parenting, but when you raise kids with proper instruction in things like this, or firearms safety, or operating machinery, then tend to grow up with a greater respect for what may seem like dangerous tools to the untrained eye. That's how I was brought up and I have always had great respect for such things and remain accident free. Knock on wood.
