Nice review and I’m looking to get the 400. If you ever want a great midrange saw the MS261 is a good one. Run semi chisel but a full chisel seems to cut much better. Thanks for solidifying my decision to buy the 400.

Of course I the chain was a little dull but I will be posting more videos with it so they should be a little better! Yes I run the 261 at work we happen to have four of them actually haha but I do like it and considered it for another saw whenever I do end up getting one.

Those are really nice saws. Im picking up a used one with a 25" bar and chain. I usually end up with some big red oak and my old faithful ms441c has died,so i needed another good sized saw. If its as reliable as my old one its gonna be great. Its also about 3lbs lighter which i greatly appreciate. Hope youre stihl enjoyin your saw.

I never get little teeny tiny logs like you get. Most of my firewood is brought in by the tree service guys. 18 to 40 in rounds. I live in an area where you have a 4-ft 5-ft round at the bottom of the tree no telling how tall they are. Piqua Ohio. That's where I live

To find a tree that big around near me is typically a tree that has been on a private property owned by the same family for its entire life and has some type of sentimental value or memory associated with it. We have 1 single Oak tree that falls into that category of being in my family forever and it is on my fathers property. We refer it to the Big Oak anytime we are talking about points on his property in the woods. It still drops acorns to this day but they get fewer and fewer. Well cut it up when it falls down pretty much. Most tree service wood is not very big its just someone wanting a tree removed because they dont want it there or because it died at a smaller stage of life.

I haven't seen a live ash tree here in Ohio in 10 years. All the ash trees I get my tree service guys are 30 and 40-in bigger. I get a lot of big trees. For my tree service guys.

These are tree service trees as well from peoples yards and there isn't to many Ash trees around here that get that big unfortunately because of the Ash born beetles kill them. Typical Ash around here is about the size I am getting bigger side being 20-26 mostly and the smaller stuff being around 18" unfortunately.

@@forcefamilyhomestead6898 well I do a lot of firewood. It saves my back. I run 24-in bars on most of my chainsaws. Except for my echo 590 timberwolf. I run a 20 inch bar on that. I have three 72 CC chainsaws my 80cc Echo CS 800p, I run a 32 inch bar on that. It's an old saw it runs pretty good it's like 5 years old.

Of course Ill definitely leave that next time! Just figured most people did not like the loud screaming coming from the saw, but well accommodate both likes in there. There will be more cutting video shortly currently editing around 3 new videos mixed in with getting a lot of things done around here! Appreciate the input Richard!

That's why I bought the ms400c. I basically run it with a 24 inch bar. It runs better with the 20-in bar. I don't think the oil is strong enough for a 24 inch bar. Personally myself. It's really fast. I run a Echo cs620p 24 inch bar. Cs7310 p and the echo CS 800 p. All might chainsaws have a place in my woodyard. I don't have any 50cc chainsaws you got any suggestions? Your friend here in Piqua Ohio Stanley Jack.

My first 50cc saw I owned personally aside from my dads bare with me was a Poulin 50cc saw and honestly for a first bigger saw it was great for what I was doing at the time. That was until I put a better quality built saw in my hands and cut with that. I bought the Husqvarna 440e as my next saw little smaller but I could carry it around all day and it had pretty good power as long as you run a good chain on it. Then I bought the ms400 and I've run a lot of other saws in my personal job outside of my homestead and I would pick my 400 all day... Its FAST. There is a few bigger Husqvarna saws that honestly cut amazing and I have out cut my buddy working next to me running a STIHL, both have goods and bads about them so I cant pick just one saw. Like you said each saw has its place whether it be a STIHL or Husqvarna does not matter to me as long as I get the job done. If one of them offered me a saw that had the perks of both I would be more than happy to run it all day.

The 20" bar was just the standard that came on it from my local store it wasn't per say my choice and I was not given the option in bar size unfortunately.

Cutting dead ass will choke out a good chainsaw. What size bar are you running on your ms400c? What type of chain?
@forcefamilyhomestead6898
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yes the ash was dead standing from a local tree company he had it on the truck called and asked if I wanted it I said yes I would take it. Most of the dead standing stuff around here is not to bad unless you hit a punky spot. I am running the saw just as I purchased it from the store with a 20" bar and just a regular chisel chain as of right now. I figured I would use what I had first instead of putting the brand new stuff on the shelf.

20 " bar seriously? That saw will pull 25" in hard wood all day long.

That was just what the standard bar length was that the store sold on the saw, I will be adding new things here and there to it in the future, thank you for the input I will keep that in mind when buying more things for the saw!
