I think I panic about breathing (long term asthma/breathing issues, so that would make sense). I'm going to try the catchup drill today in the pool and try to relax more. I am pretty relaxed until I need to take a breath. I swim 3 strokes (right left right, breathe) but on the 4th stroke where I breathe I feel my lower body kind of freezing up and the kicking just stops then I notice when I take the next stroke there's a weird bent knee egg beater kick. I also see that my left arm as making a weird flutter motion when I breathe. It feels like a mini-body panic even though my brain seems fairly quiet. Maybe just the old "can't breathe" fear that's stuck in my body. I have zero desire to compete, but I would love to get to that free relaxed state you describe in the video.

It's a fine balance between power and being loose in the water , but a tense swimmer will always struggle 👊

My kick was the biggest problem for me. It actually took a long time to get the freestyle kick perfected, but even then I was slow. After months of training hard, basically just putting a snorkel on and kicking freestyle with a kickboard I slashed my time in 25 meters by 18 seconds. Cutting 15 pounds probably helped cut seconds too.😅

I feel this one too. My kick is completely pointless. I go nowhere with kick drills. I'm going to try the swim fins. . . but I really think I need a coach!

I love your videos. It is so sad to discover them after watching hundreds of videos, which are mostly far away from telling the core of the things. Thank you, thank you thank for that. My question is; I don't understand if our body needs to be relaxed in the water, how could we increase our speed? our body naturally becomes tence, won't it?

Thanks for the kind words.... great question, this is the big thing to master in the water...being loose but strong ...in the simplest terms its being loose on top of the water and tense underneath...so it's matter of switching the muscles on and off at the right time💪👊

I cannot swim more than 100m non stop without stopping to catch my breath. My struggles for swimming freestyle: 1. I breathe only to my left side. After a few laps, my neck will get pain. I rotate my body about 45 degrees but still having this issue. 2. Whenever I do early vertical forearm catch, my whole body especially the arms will get fatigue after 700m swim. What are the causes of these to happen ? and what are the solutions? Tq

Thanks for the questions, breathing to one side is good as long as you equally rotate to the other side after the breath , everyone has one stronger side and tend to breathe more to one over the other ...increasing your shoulder flexibility will alleviate that neck pain as well as help you grab more water . To decrease your forearm fatigue, focus on staying loose on top of the water and strong underneath 💪 ...

I wouldn't say exhausted but I feel dizzy after a 100 m. Like I'm not fatigued, just feels like I need to lay my head down on a pillow for a few seconds. Kinda like you feel after hyperventilating. Am I breathing wrong? Or not eating enough before swimming?

Very common feeling a few things could be coming to play , but the one that jumps out just sounds like you are not being relaxed when you are trying to swim... struggling to breathe and doing too much in the water...try to implement what we talked about in the video and I'm confident you'll see a difference...
