When you say "outline" this can depend on how much seperation is needed between one object & another. Sometimes its the only way to...segregate things or they look merged (which is what you don't want) say a cup looking stuck to a bottle with no junction between them both. this is also true when drawing people

Certainly true. But when all objects are outlined they flatten out. Instead aim to let the value of the objects show the forms. 😊

@@bluelavaart so like should we then just add a really thin line to keep them from merging and to not flatten them out or should we seperate them with the use of lighting and shadows and more midtone

It’s good to start off with a midtone pencil like HB or 2B. For shading you want to start using some darker pencils like a 4 or 5 or 6b
