I got burnt out after 2 years. Still a nurse, but the shortage is terrible. It's very sad. Nurses are the warriors of the medical field and we need more of them!

@J20M07 Recently, there has been a 'hiring' freeze here in Toronto, GTA, Ontario. Some didn't see it coming, as one HR put it. Went to a job fair, and some recruiters didn't even show up. Yes, its bad here right now.

Also having reviewed the image again - a modern CT scanner is usually built in to a gantry allowing it to tilt. This bad boy shown here looks to be free standing. Suggesting that it's an MR scanner. In fact I'll even stick my neck on the line and suggest that that is a model from the Phillips Achieva range.

Recent graduates, 20 approximately, number who have found jobs? 1 out of 20, CASUAL job, not even full time or part time. 30,000 leaving job force by 2008, well its 2010 and all the RPN's I know are not getting anywhere. I may just go back to school, at least there I feel like I am accomplishing something. Whats the use of having a education and not being able to apply it? MY WORST FEAR: Going back to school, and still not being able to find a job.

"When you need a nurse will there be one there for you?" answer: If you go to Walmart or McDonalds.... ask for Sue, she is a nurse, can't find a job in the field, but was gladly hired elsewhere.....

I just feel like I have a gun to my head everytime I go to work. I only hear from the bosses if I make a mistake. There is so much to do. I wish the state inspectors would use common sense and realize that all these things asked of the nurses can't possibly be done in one shift. But they turn a blind eye. Everyone is turning a blind eye but if a patient eventually gets hurt, all of them would rush to heap on the blame.

No jobs for our new grads. Upon the 20 or so that I personally know that graduated recently, only 1 has a job, and its not part time or full time, only CASUAL ! Nurses leaving, 30,000 by 2008? Well, its 2010, and there are no jobs out there for RPN's !!!! WITH Diplomas!!

Okay it's just a video. I was joking. And that my friend is not a CT scanner - it's an MR scanner. The subtle differences are clear. It's deeper than a CT scanner, it has a narrower bore, and the table is seated on a trackway inside the bore itself, wheras in a CT scanner the table is suported on a pedistal outside the scanner and is suspended inside the bore. Unless you know of a different type of CT scanner. I'm standing my ground.

No worries. I'm much more relaxed this week. So no picking faults or anything. Hope you didn't take my barage to heart. But I'm guessing were all watching this video for a similar reason - Because we do the work of 10 people.

Myth. I graduated 5 months ago from a highly ranked nursing program from a major university in a major city. Guess what no job. I am almost about to pay my student loans with credit cards. 30000 leaving then where is my job.

There are a lot of internationally- educated nurses in Ontario. They just don't wanna give them the oppurtunity to work. THERE IS NO REAL SHORTAGE OF NURSES IN ONTARIO. "Don't believe the hype".

Phenomenon. I'm guessing you're either in the United States or Canada. I might be wrong. But I read the United States were once thinking about introducing a Health Care system a bit like the National Health Service that we have in the UK. The bad news is that when the tax payer is paying for it, and the service is free at the door to anybody who walks in - then it gets abused and the government are always trying to penny pinch, making hospitals run on shoe strings, and understaffed.

hi! I am a Filipino nurse. I can give you info about Canadian policy regarding nurses. I have been here since 2008. I already passed the exam and I cannot get my license here. Up until now I am not working as a nurse. If you wanna know the truth about your dream, just ask me.

there is no more shortage.... it's just a lie like everything else.... now you have people who got a nursing degree who originally hoped to have a new career because their last one didn't work out. To make the situation worse, they now don't only have no money but now they are in debt from their OSAP loan...
