Great job jimbo. I use roofing caulk for those spots. Not too expensive. I use to love the views roofing. Something most wont experience.🎩

Don't use sprayfoam in that area. It would expand and lift the flashing. Use some flexible caulk.

Just for your info jim, the wall with the siding on it , it's supposed to have L shaped tin that overlap like the shingles, Guaranteed not to leak...

2:25 no spray foam it’ll lift as it sets. Just use a good flexible & UV blocking caulk. Not silicone caulk like a Lexel brand.🇺🇸🙏

Step flashing would be the best just stuck with tar. Wouldn’t take too long. Even if it only went up the sidewall an inch or two. Spray foam not a good idea there. Good to keep nails away from that spot like you have. I hand nailed a whole roof by myself. Hard work. If you don’t have a shingle shear, those long straight tin snips are great for cutting architectural shingles. Ideally you should weave the valleys but that’s hard flying solo. Hardware cloth rolled up and shoved in a hole with some spray foam is a great rodent deterrent. Keep the flying squirrels at bay. ✊

We're finally getting some much needed rain, it's been a drought here since June. My mowers sat too long and the ethanol killed them. More rain headed your way. The roof looks good, I took one look at doing mine and had to call the roofers, it's just not for me anymore. But I'll be doing my garage as soon as it stops raining.

I would caulk a short piece of L channel up underneath the tin hanging off the side of your house right to the shingles. That way if something would get underneath there it can’t go all the way back to the house and underneath the shingles.

you could add a piece of flashing bent 45 deg. go under flashing put a rivet or screw to hold it then put your shingle on the flashing you put in the water then would not go under the flashing doing good job
