Have you ever seen the way some of these addon developers act? A lot of them are very angry older men who were actively rooting for FS2020 to fail the second murmurs of its existence got out, lol. VATSIM thankfully has a lot of younger blood in it, and I think that's a big reason why Asobo and MS were so eager to work with them.

They are integrated, via simconnect. But if you mean for it to come supplied, then adding maybe 4 or 5 big apps might add $100 to the purchase price then ongoing maintanence would need paid for somehow. It's easier just to open an API, as they do with simconnect and let the charge directly.

I think we can all agree that the sim is a fantastic VFR/Bush sim in its current state, that badly needs some attention on the IFR side. It was rushed out and is late alpha at best. However the potential is there for it to be really great. Most of us fly on online networks, but I think default ATC is one of the only things that got WORSE from FSX. I don't know how they weren't able to at least match FSX or slightly improve. Love the sim and I'm enjoying VFR, but it desperately needs some love and care over the next 6-18 months. Its crazy how well 3D graphics, processing and visual engines have improved in the last years but really weird to hear those text2speech engines still sounding like back in the 2000s. I gotta say, although this plugin offers more functionality, it really is not made well from a UI/UX perspective. And as I appreciate the closer-to-reality procedures you can have with P2ATC, its visual layout and those voices are just taking me back to X-Plane 9 or earlier. I hope that they upgrade the overall functionality of the inbuilt MSFS ATC, so the whole experience would be just more simple and nice from a user journey perspective.

A $60 plugin! lol. We were so stuck with relying on 3rd party plugins with FSX and X-plane that these Plug-in prices were getting out of hand! Considering how good most default things are in FS2020 (Exception to Live Traffic/Weather, hoping for an update soon), these 3rd party developers really need to step their game up and come up with more competitive prices and make the products better. The user base should be much larger now and expectations of quality from add-ons are generally higher now. FS2020 has changed the game, it's adapt or die for third party developers.
@TheClumsyGeekGaming
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your insights. In the flight sim world, $60 is normal pricing, unfortunately. Even with msfs introducing a great new platform, I highly doubt the pricing will change. The quality probably will be increasing even more, though, so that's good.
4 жыл бұрын
First of all it's not a plugin. You seem pretty new to flight-sims if you complain at this software. It has been the best ATC there has been for a long time (over in X-plane). I also love that you can run different voices for ground crew, co-pilot and controllers. You can also use far better voices than the one in this video. The planning software part is also great. Add on top of this that you also can use X-ATC-chatter together with this which is real audio from real controllers to "add to" the immersion.
@zorbalight3933
4 жыл бұрын
It has been said already in reply however it needs to be repeated, if you can't stomach a $60 plug in for a partly completed sim (FS2020) then you better quit now whilst you still have you're hard earned money. I started seriously flight simming in 2005 and can't think what I have spent on 2 MS products, 4 P3D products, IL2, DCS versions and 3 X Plane versions (9,10 &11). Starting again with FS2020 and happy for the improvement because I can now see a real argument for VR with this quality.
@ComandanteJ
4 жыл бұрын
It's always been like that. And that has created an "old guard" of simmers with money who dont mind spending a lot of cash on their hobby... and when you bring up the CRAZY prices for some of these addons/pluggins, they get all high and mighty and start telling you that "it's always been like that". yeah, well... that's exactly the problem. And i dont think this will change, unfortunely. The FS 2020 fad will go away, all the casuals will find another pretty game engine to look at, and the new simmers wont be enough to warrant MS upping the experience too much. So it'll be up to third parties to make a proper sim out of this, currently, game. And that means a 60 dollar addon will still be considered "cheap".

Great video. I just learned of this program. I was looking to see if VOXATC was going to come out for MSFS and found this. I have more than triple the money invested in Cereproc voices than the cost of this and very glad to see that it allows them so will be trying the demo soon enough! If you don't know about Cereproc voices, they can be installed in Windows. Programs like this Pilot2ATC and VOXATC use Windows own voice recognition so the voices you invest in can then be heard in the ATC program as ATC (not sure if they can be used to substitute that horrid default copilot voice, but I hope so! Haha). They're also from different parts of the world and with some hope, P2A might even be able to put a Scottish voice in that area (if you have that) like VOXATC could. Either way, it's great to have lots of voices to hear the different accents. They're not cheap, but not too expensive. I never paid full price though and just watch for sales on their facebook page. They have sales often and should see some toward the end of the year with Christmas and New Year. Here's a link. www.cereproc.com/en/products/voices

@@TheClumsyGeekGaming Me again (Danhoven). It is expensive but worth it if you use it a lot. I made a video using the voices a year ago. Skip to 3:16 to hear ATIS using the voice "Megan". Soon after you'll hear default. Some voices do a better job than others. Some I wish I never paid a nickel for and no refund makes it hard to ever buy another after you're let down. Best voices I've bought are: 1 - Megan (American) 2 - Heather (Scottish) 3 - Adam (American) 4 - Jess (Northern English) Those are also in the order of my favorites but all are great.

Clumsy, why do you think it is that a 3rd party can create a decent ATC but developers just kind of leave it almost unfinished and buggy? Same with the aircraft? It seems they spent most of their resources creating the WORLD but shorted on the aircraft and ATC. Are they just expecting 3rd parties to come in and fill in the cracks? It's a GREAT sim, don't get me wrong. I absolutely love it, bugs and all.
@TheClumsyGeekGaming

I think they need a lot more time to refine things properly. They focused on the world, but now they have to focus on aircraft systems and atc, the actual flight sim elements. At the same time, 3rd party devs will not sit still and will develop things that fill in the gaps we see. It's going to be an amazing time in the next few months watching for the progress.

It’s worth considering all of the ATC programs as they each have different strengths and weaknesses and you need to work out which best fits your needs with the fewest compromises. Some have demos you can try (including Pilot2ATCj and manuals you can download and review. Checking out product videos on KZitem and exploring their respective support forums is also a good idea. Neither PF3 nor Pro-ATC/X have had an update in 2 years and the latter is likely a dead product. VoxATC was also looking dead but received a surprise update (after 2 years) in June this year to support P3Dv5.

Only use offline AI ATC if you are truly offline. If you have internet access, man up and log on VATSIM for "as real as it gets" human online ATC and air traffic. And it's free!
@TheClumsyGeekGaming
4 жыл бұрын
That's a good tip, but not for everyone, as with everything else in life. 😊 Imagine cases where people cannot sit for hours on end and have to pause the sim every so often due to other commitments, or those who fly in remote areas that are not frequented by atc coverage, or just for hardcore introverts who don't like the additional anxiety of having to talk with other people when flying is something that supposedly is for relaxation. It's good we have alternatives like this.
@danniem

@@TheClumsyGeekGaming There's always exceptions to almost any rule, and you point out some good ones! :) For hardcore introverts, I include them in advice I give to everyone: look to challenge yourself and grow in what you can handle in all areas of life. When it comes to VATSIM, fly very short and simple routes to get used to talking with ATC, then baby step your way to longer or more complex routing/airspace. I'm somewhat an introvert myself and, like almost everyone, when I was a beginner with VATSIM it made me nervous as hell. With baby steps, I now am comfortable flying in the busiest airspaces with near-constant ATC interaction.

It routes you with AI planes in mind. It will tell you to hold short or line up and wait if there's an ai plane ahead. On approach it can tell you to go around if an ai plane is taking off or occupying the runway. Take note it doesn't detect real players in multiplayer, though, only ai planes (whether live traffic or not).
