Pioneer have neglected affordable full sized players. Still using my XDJ 1000 MK1’s from 2014 because there hasn’t been a good upgrade option. I have a pair of 3000 on back order, but there are a lot of bars and small clubs that simply won’t stretch to 3000’s that I feel a more mid level player would be really suited to. On a marketing view , I think that pioneer wouldn’t bring out a cheaper price player I would love to , but I don’t think that this would happen . What the streaming consider : yes please! I’m using Beauport and beatsource link for2 years and I love it . Yes I have sometimes download issues ( 1/10 ) but for the rest,it works great . use it while we drive ( I play during the Rollerbike parade ). The one thing that I don’t like is that I always have to carry my laptop with me. I repeat I standing on a pick up truck playing while this one is driving through the streets. So I don’t think this is good ( all the vibration ) for my laptop. So yes I will love a solution where I wouldn’t need my laptop.

You’re forgetting that the few things denon has over the pioneer are still things the pioneer could be capable of with software updates, which are undoubtedly coming in the future, otherwise such a robust set of internals wouldn’t be necessary. Getting the software just right and maintaining the functionality and speed of the unit will be key to these functions not becoming a hassle, which I believe pioneer is capable of handling. The denons are a top tier unit, and none of this is to say anything other than such.

And what would all of us be saying if we can barely get our hands on one yet they’re releasing updates like these? I know I would be saying “thanks for the updates nobodys using.” Because at the moment all I can say is “thanks for making this review, I’m sure tiesto and the rest of the festival Dj’s who actually touch these things will be giving a thumbs up and dropping an F in the chat for everyone else who will see these next century.” Matter of fact, I think pioneer, and serato, are both dropping the ball by not having more integration, and then again by their use of subscription services for software that used to come with gear, or for free. Example, buy a djms11, that’s a hardware unlocking device, go out to play at the club and they have a nxs setup, you’re fucked. As a long time Traktor user (Since the 2000s), I had bought the MK1 XDJ-1000s for exactly the purpose the CDJ-3000 is made for.. However at the time I never loved the sound quality on them.. I ended up using them in HID mode with a Xone PX5 mixer... I sold my XDJ-1000s to get the first Denon Prime SC5000+X1800 kit because it promised to be the "Traktor in a box" solution allowing me to leave the laptop behind.. Fast forward to 4 years later and I still have and love the Denon Kit (It truly was future proofed). I use them for mobile DJ style events (wedding and corporate etc)... Where that leaves me today on the topic of Pioneer CDJ3000, they look great. I'm sure they sound excellent and are a pleasure to play on.. But as a home/end user it isn't something I would see myself buying. I am not tied down to any particular platform (even though I still create my playlists in Rekordbox and export them to other software).. I do understand however that some people get comfortable with a particular brand experience and will never change (like iPhone owners for example).. And as such, if the majority of DJs are already more comfortable on Pioneer Rekordbox / Hardware.. I don't see the "competition" ever being able to sway those users...

And from a technology point of view, they're far behind. So far behind, that a nearly six year old device beats it. Sorry, but that's just a hype - not more. Pioneer gets bought, because it's known. Hey Mojax, love the channel - long time follower. However, I am very surprised that more noise hasn't been made about how the new APU handles interpolation of tracks, specifically with Master Tempo and the "Key Sync" enabled. The new processing power has SIGNIFICANTLY improved the implementation of the MT algorithm - DJ Ravine's initial review did a small side by side comparison with the NXS2 and it's like night and day. And the Key Sync feature is just not spoken about enough. AFAIK Digital DJ Tips are the only ones to correctly identify just how elegant the system works when mixing harmonically. These are capable of extreme manipulation of the source content with incredible results. I would love to see an in depth feature covering these aspects of the players! Obviously all of the other improvements are nothing to be snuffed at - but I really feel like this is what it's worth paying the big bucks for!

That reworked jog wheel didn't age well. Its my main gripe about 3k's. It feels great, but don't leave it in direct sunlight for more then 15 min, or you may find yourself replacing the outer ring and sheet switch under it at a $150+ in parts alone (that wont likely be in stock STILL at the end of 2024!) Ask me how I know, and my other repair clients know. I replaced 6 just last summer alone, and I live in a small to med size city. The outer ring is made of WAY thinner/softer plastic, and they decided it would be a good idea to attach the sheet switch to it that cant be removed without a new replacement. ($65+ ea) Also the convoluted jog tension system never seems to work well, and becomes less functional as they age. They should have just kept the previous design. ie from the XZ / NXS2. They had it right the first time imho

the notion that these 10:54 CDJ3000's aren't supposed to be bought by DJ's, but still expecting DJ's to be comfortable performing on them when they show up to play a set is like telling someone they're gonna use a Custom Shop Strat or Les Paul, but they can't practice on that same guitar at home. that type of formula makes the first portion of your set awkward while you're feeling your way around. just buy the Denons and bring them with you to your show

‘Not meant to be bought by DJs’… isn’t this a problem worth noting? Are DJs not allowed to want to practice with the same gear they preform with? This ridiculous statement could only have been made by a DJ WITH a pair of 3000s. 🤦

1000% agree that pioneer need some affordable standalone players. Most people I meet getting into DJing are going for Serato because the pioneer ecosystem is too expensive. That or they're buying vinyl and turntables. The price of 2 CDJs, not even with a mixer will get you two turntables, a nice little 2 channel mixer and a ton of vinyl. Pioneer is being abandoned.

where pioneer are losing out is rekordbox lighting. They have discontinued the RB-DMX1, the only thing you can buy with rekordbox lighting now is the FLX10, they have abandoned the CDJ3000 pro dj link lighting, the DJM A9 lighting modes, as there is nothing to buy now to support, its been over 12 months the RB-DMX1 really hasnt been available freely! Pioneer has dropped the ball, if they have give up to soundswitch , then they should let soundswittch intergrate to rekordbox, or just allow any USB dongle to work. I pay a subscription already for rekordbox ... no idea why rekordbox lock you down to a proprietary dongle too...

I sold up my pioneer gear a few years back and fully got into the denon SC players with a Xone 96. I still play a lot gigs now with the CDJ2000 NXS2 and they feel really old and dated. When I do get the chance to play on the CDJ 3000 I love them. They are so nice to use and feel like a massive upgrade from the 2000. They do lack some of the storage and WIFI streaming features of the denon players but make up for it with HID support for most DJ software. I have been a traktor user for 20 years and was waiting for HID support, it never happened so I sold my SC players and went back to a DVS setup. I would like to see pioneer update the CDJ 900NXS and bring out a more affordable players or even bring out a new player with a spinning plater like the rev7 but bigger. I have to agree with you though even though Denon have given it a good go Pioneer are still very much on top when it comes to club setups the CDJ3000 is still the one to have.

What other performing artist besides a DJ shows up to perform and says I'll use the tools that are provided; instead of I'll use what tools I can provide my best performance with. I just saw your video on the SC6000s and you said you "Loved" them, pushing inovation of whats possible. If I was new to this and just saw this video I would think you were endorsing CDJ 3000 as the King of DJ equipment. Maybe telling people how the "Club Standard" becomes the club standard...sales reps, contracts, fringe benefits and not paying full price. How many clubs ask the DJs what tools they prefer to give their best performance?

There is absoloutly no reasonable point why they won. They just won, because it's Pioneer and they're clubstandard. They're underpowered, way overpriced, have a dramatic lack of features and the compatition is way stronger. That's not a long term review and comparision, it's a statemant of a fanboy. But hey: That's what the DJ scene wants oviously. Pioneer because it's Pioneer, no new stuff to get used to, and equipment that's more expansive than most peoples cars. Dumbest scene ever...🤦♂

Why would you need to upgrade the soundcard? There is no difference in sound, otherwise they would be unsuitable in a professional setup. It's 2023 and DACs have been transparent for decades now. I know for fact pioneer wanna sell as many as these as possible before shoving a 4000 down our throats. But i started djing in 92, nowadays everyone wants to be a dj 🙄 it aint a bad thing. But i personally have moved on from these and gone back to vinyl. Kinda full circle if you will. I spend about 2k a month on it, but least vinyl isnt going anywhere.
