13 years in the trade, maintenance not constuction, 4 years in goldmills ( 3 years at canadian malartic wich is the biggest open pit gold mine in canada, detour gold ontario has the same mill) , 6 in the lumbermill and now 2 years into kraft pulp mill. First thing you do when you start working is , forget half the stuff you learned. Also the alignements tool you made , can probly throw it in the garbage, made one similar in school and never used it, we use laser. You wont do math , you probly wont do machining , and unless your in maintenance , you probly wont weld either. Great job choice , Still love it. But if it was to redo , id probly be an electrician , industrial programmer its easier on the body.

Is it worth it pay wise to go into industrial tech / millwright im still thinking about it im in Michigan and there's alot of good trade schools around me but im more worried about geting into job with low pay and no growth i can never get a straight answer form anyone or form research but im definitely not going into this blind I worked on mopeds and small engines thew out high school and love the process of fixing things and when i was a kid i used to rip apart our vacuum and put it back together i always had a interest in repairing things

Definitely worth it. Millwright pay is good money but look into the size of your city. Pay does vary by population size and industry. I could make about $6 more an hour if I commute to a larger city but I’m comfortable and content where I am. The convenience of my work being a 5 min drive instead of 1hour is more important to me. Do a local job search for millwright online and you’ll see wage offers for your local industries. It’s an evolving trade where you’re always learning.

@@silverrick90 I live in Michigan form what I found on the Internet there's lots of plants near around the Ohio Michigan area and there's not that many people going into the industrial tech/ millwright work we also have lots of atuo places that are desperate for workers form what the news tells me but I never really trust them because it's all politicians talking about something they really don't know
