30 years of watching this film and I just now understand the “plenty of ice” joke. Actually, there’s quite a bit about this film one doesn’t pick up on until adulthood. Crying shame nobody knows how to make movies that way anymore.

Did you check out Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote? In my opinion it did a great job capturing the Magic of his old films.

1981 was THE YEAR for classic science-fiction films that have withstood the test of time: ✓Time Bandits ✓Dragonslayer ✓Clash of the Titans ✓Raiders of the Lost Ark ✓The Road Warrior ✓Evil Dead (horror, but still fiction nonetheless) The days & methods of classically shot cinema are long gone. There is a certain patina to these films, the new age will never be able to capture again.

It's a great movie, but I still think his masterpiece is Munchhausen

@@theodeborbamoosburger4903 I read somewhere that they were all part of a trilogy. The young man as a dreamer (Kevin), the middle-age man caught in a morass of red tape (Sam in Brazil), and then Baron (maybe an old man tilting at windmills)

@@double1967 yes, they form a trilogy of escape. Time bandits is escape in time, Brazil escape in place, Munchhausen escape in imagination. Brazil is also a great movie, but a little bleak. Munchhausen is in my view the perfect movie.

Actually it was too damn cold the night the Titanic sank for people to be out on the decks lounging and drinking champagne...but a funny scene regardless.

Also the ship struck the berg at 11.40 at night, when most people would have been in bed and certainly all the entertainment would have been shut down for the night.
