If your shower has an unbearable odor and you can't seem to get rid of it, this may be your problem. Three years of debris had accumulated behind the faucet and started smelling ROUGH! I've hated this part of the RV shower design anyway so now I had a reason to change it. Three years of soap scum does NOT smell like soap!!! Soapy water was running down into the shower faucet because the shower hose is mounted on top of the faucet and soap scum accumulated behind the faucet and behind the faucet knobs creating a stinking situation. It only smells when it is wet. The smell was only noticeable during a shower. Once I took the faucet apart and cleaned everything up, it was time to re engineer the faucet design. I sealed an unused hole and flipped the shower hose outlet fitting to the bottom of the faucet where it should have been in the first place. Now water cannot get behind the faucet and soap scum cannot collect and get stinky over time. The only thing that will need to be cleaned now and then is the hollow area behind the knobs and that is no big deal. It smelled like something was stinking behind the wall of the shower. The shower was stinking but the odor was not coming from the drain. The same stuff can collect in the "P" trap of your drain which is easy to remove. Simply remove the screw holding down the plate over the drain and use a flexible drain cleaner to poke around in the drain pipe. You will be able to loosen and remove hair and soap scum and then flush the remaining bits with hot water. Your drain will work and smell better in the end!
