Two relevant questions: (1) What tires (size and compound) were the cars running, and (2) what are the respective weights of the cars?

I"m running a 195/60/14 Falken Azenis RT615K. Matt's running the same tire but I believe it's a 205/50/15. Both sets are SHOT 😂 My car probably weighs ~ 2250lbs although I haven't weighed it on scales yet.

Looked like a fun time! Power isnt everything.. especially on a small course or on the canyon. Matt did pull away on some spots.. but for the most part you kept up

Yep! On the longer course it would be a much different story. This is a good little momentum course.

It’s so good! Dave, I was ripping around my completed J32 swap in my dream last night. It felt good. I think my subconscious wants me to do it too 😏

On a go kart course yes power doesn’t matter, on an actual track with decent straight seats the power helps carry speed both in and out of corners

So true. I felt like a slow turd when we did this on the big track.

Not sure how reliable Matt’s car is but…… while he is “tuning “ on his I bet you are having fun driving yours.

His car is pretty well sorted at this point. He’ll drive it to the track, run back to back sessions all day, and drive it home. But yeah, it takes a lot of work to build a reliable turbo Miata. More components means more possible failure points! It’s all part of the game though 🤪

sorry Ryan...just seen.... slick vid as always... power is for the straights... so he gets to the corner before you..... but if you can carry more speed to the corner brake later.... with .better brakes..... power yes maybe out of the corners...... what brakes you guys got....? later braking....... we need to ask Ali... 👍👍👍 N x

After boosting my miata I sometimes regret it and miss the way it drove when it was stock. Such fun car’s in general though.

I feel you on this. I've been playing with miatas since 2004ish. I boosted my first two, and for sure they were fun, but it makes it a lot more difficult to drive. My last two (including my current 2003), are NA and I plan to keep it that way. Now, I put my money toward tires, suspension, and brakes. I don't miss the turbo all that much.
