The market's volatility makes DIY dangerous. You do not need to identify the next NVDA to be successful in investing. Choose top-tier ETFs, dividend aristocrats, and a trusted advisor. I turned $180k into $200k in quarterly dividends, which is an exciting milestone

For the regular, the strategies are fairly demanding. In actuality, most professionals who have the necessary expertise to pull off such trades effectively carry them out.

A lot of US retail investors were shut out of Monday's action because a majority of the brokerages weren't accessible, including Schwab, where I was, so I wasn't able to take advantage of jack-squat, and mad as heck.

So many risks right now. Plus SPY is far from the 200 sma and that long-term trend line. I'm not selling any more but am 40% cash and will likely start to hedge this week. Market feels fragile and sick. I don't see how we don't hit at least 460 by March. This isn't over yet.

Judging by this week's action, I'd say that PYPL, SHOP, SG, RDVT, MTCH, UBER, LOCO, SMAR (by disclosure I own them) all behaved extremely well after earnings and could be leaders for the rest of the year.

Does the captain have a sailor's mouth? Sure. Should we pressure him to change it? Well, it's his boat. In the end he has to run things the way he feels best for the seas, the crew, the passengers, and himself. It is a cold, violent, tempestuous sea! It can make one bitter and thick skinned. Especially dealing with it and the whining, helpless passengers at the same time. Arrrgh!

Tax receipts growth is a liquidity drain for the private sector while federal spending is reducing. In other words the net financial assets of the private sector is decreasing. I’m a permabull but if (G-T) goes down then (S-I)+(X-M) goes down too. If you look at net fiscal flow in the economy is actually going down and this is not good. Couple that with IR cuts we have another fiscal drain.
@FinFluentialTV
Ай бұрын
The notion that increased tax receipts and reduced federal spending necessarily drain the private sector's liquidity is overly simplistic. In reality, economic growth, fueled by government spending's multiplier effect, can more than offset the reduction in net financial assets. Moreover, interest rate cuts stimulate private sector investment and consumption, while a trade deficit can be financed by foreign investment, increasing private sector assets. Savings and investment patterns also shift in response to changing economic conditions, and reduced government borrowing can actually increase confidence and reduce uncertainty, promoting private sector growth. Therefore, it's inaccurate to assume that decreased fiscal flows inevitably harm the economy; instead, a nuanced understanding of these factors reveals a more complex and dynamic interplay that can actually support economic expansion.

@@FinFluentialTV I agree up to the point that the private sector is the user of the currency, not the issuer. Therefore is income constrained and the net flow of financial assets can come only from the issuer. Internally the private sector can only redistribute assets and can create liquidity but again it is constrained. Is the total private debt that burst in the end not the issuer of a free floating currency. G-T is the driver. It is the level of water in the tub. Taxes is the drain at the bottom and G is the flow at the top. If you plot the sectorial balance flow against recession on Fred you can clearly see the mirror image of the balance. Anyway, interesting topic and texting is not the best way to convey the nuances. I wish it would be possible to have chat! And thank you for your work.

It depends on your time horizon, if you're investing for retirement then you might as well never sell. DCA is proven to give greater returns than any top and bottom calling strategy. Buying a hedge here and there is fine, but selling will almost always leave the seller with regret

@@mryoung0412 so I have a trading account and an investing account. The investing one is retirement and I DCA into it 2x a month. Outside a quarterly rebalancing I don't do much with it. My trading account is more short term playing the market

The news yesterday was about the bond market signaling recession (and that the stock market is wrong), and your thesis was that the economy and market are on firm ground because of earnings. Why the sharp dichotomy of views? The retail investors only hear the negative story and fear the market will plummet to levels not seen since the Great Depression.

It's frustrating when market inefficiencies persist, particularly with undervalued stocks. Consider consulting an advisor for smarter investing decisions.
