Stolen Kubota mini digger is recovered by Automatrics from inside a stolen Transit van in High Wycombe. The theft of a Kubota mini digger was reported to the owner who confirmed the machine had been stolen from a worksite in Reading. The Automatrics MTrack tracking unit was triggered into alarm but no GPS position was being received. An Automatrics radio finder was dispatched to search for the stolen machine form the reported GSM cell location using a radio direction signal finder. The radio signal was picked up in a residential area emanating from a white Ford transit. Thames Valley Police were contacted to attend the search site to support the radio finder. When police arrived the signal was checked and confirmed as coming from the van. The Ford Transit van registration plates were checked against the vehicle VIN number, PANIU police were contacted and confirmed a mismatch the VIN confirmed the Transit van was also reported stolen in December 2016. The police checked with local residents but the van owner was not identified at that time so the van was towed away to a secure police compound for forensic checks. The owner who attended the recovery location was told he would have to wait until the van was inspected before the police could confirm the mini digger was inside the van.
