glad to see your motorhome is back. I know that sticker on the windscreen and it is Copart. It is called a lot number, the yellow chalk on the glass was written by the person who received it in the yard and most likely were the ones who would have taken the photos of it when it came in. I use to work at a Copart many years ago and I can tell you now that those places are full of thieves and some unsavoury people. The amount of items stolen not just from vehicles going back to customers but vehicles that were even being crushed due to flood damage or arson. The workers would rummage through peoples vehicles to see if they had left money in them or anything they wanted. I got the sack due to constantly trying to tell the manager that the workers were not doing there job properly and that I was trained to be professional and respect the rules on site. of course following the rules and doing my job to earn a wage didn't keep my job. Health and safety was non existent and I was always telling management that they needed to open there eyes and see the things that were going on within the company. They got sick of hearing it so they lied to me and said they had to lay me off due to no work. people will always crash cars, burn them, steal them and that means that these places will always have work. I was absolutely appalled at that company because they always denied taking personal items and sometimes the customers would kick off at the office staff and the look on the office staff's faces was blank. if a vehicle goes to Copart, make sure to take ALL YOUR items out of it, even the stereo unit because you will never see it again. anyway, it is nice to see your home from home is back up and running :)

So sorry to hear your bad news! We have a Tracker similar to yours that sends a Text message! With a Map of where the Van is! We have a Wheel Clamp outside which is visible! The Steering Lock is ok but kinda useless if you have Screen covers on it can't be seen! We also have VIN Chip which Forensically marks the Van in many places that the Police can Scan it! for £85 well worth it!

So sorry to hear about your theft. So pleased you’ve got her back though. I’ve have almost exactly the same van as you A Bailey Autograph 79-6 and have put two trackers and an alarm on it as well as a Clutch Claw, a steering wheel lock and I lock the drivers seat in the reverse position. I would also recommend running a strap between both handles on the front door as that way they can’t open the front doors easily if they pick the lock (although in your case they smashed the window so could have cut the strap). I would also recommend getting some LockMout window locks as the locks on the Bailey windows don’t have a click button to unlock them and it’s easy to slip a screwdriver through the rubber surround and push the locks up. I’ve also fitted a Catloc to the catalytic converter as they are targets for thieves on vans and motorhomes as well. All you can do is make it as hard to steal as possible and hope they move on to an easier target.

The number one item you are missing is a pedal box lock, google the van your camper cab is made from. its the one thing they really hate. out of all your items of security its the one that can not be bypassed or easily cut out. the seat lock can be cut in 60 seconds, the steering lock in 2 minutes.. the whole hour is a myth. we use pet trackers that work with telephone sim cards and gsm as well as a PAJ tracker. the best tracker in the UK is the Automatrix ltd. its the only one we fit to plant and equipment on building sites, air tags have a place but not a very big one. I can get a huge yellow steering wheel lock off is 30 seconds and without opening or attacking the lock. all your locks need to bright yellow, big and highly visible, you can not have enough visibility of them as well. the more they see that will slow them or stop them the better. You also need to make sure every thing "Factory fitted" is not thought of as any good, its not its junk, some of the cheapest and nastiest security is factory fitted and easily by passed

LITLOK X3 or Hiplok D1000 will take a few disc from an Angle grinder to remove (over 4 I believe). The lock you have now will be less than 30 seconds. Definitely not an hour. Still everything you have all together is a good upgrade in security. If you want to really go for it. There is an alarm that when triggered fills the vehicle completely with smoke in about 5 seconds making it impossible to carry on and from memory it can be reused several times. I would think carefully about using the building rated security film on the windows, and maybe stick to ones designed for vehicles only because in an accident it could seriously hamper aid.

@grapewater123

@@lessyontourNo, it must contain Barronium to get those kind of results and that puts the price up. Serious bikers will tell you that. They need locks that resist angle grinders and the D1000 was the first mass produced game changer. Kryptonite is a strong lock and will be a pain for someone wanting to steal who doesn't have an angle grinder but no way would it take more than one disc or more than a minute. But I can't see someone trying it with all you have now. The only thing you could add now is a simple hidden switch that cuts the fuel pump. That way in the event they bring an angle grinder it won't be going anywhere. That would definitely take the wind out of their enthusiasm

Install some spy cameras inside, take only one fuse out with you when ever leaving the camping car, by doing this, the vehicle will never start😅 , if I am wrong, ask an automotive electrician. A little investment, but put a starlink Internet antenna,in a hide out place which will give immediate positioning of the vehicle. Thank God you got your vehicle back This is the most important. If I was you, I needed to left it unattended, I should take out the air for the front wheel , knowing I have an air compressor onboard.

My van was in expensive secure storage when it was broken into for a shopping list of Autotrail parts including the big sunroof, internal doors, a drawer and window blind cassette, all sorts. The site were worse than useless at helping, refused cctv to me and the police. Insurance paid out eventually after they and I were not able to get it restored. Turns out this was one of many similar problems at this gold standard site.

I’ve just fitted an OBD port lock from TVL in addition to a Disclock, milenco pedal lock, alarm and tracker. I’ve been told that the way they get past the immobiliser is by plugging into the ODB port and it gives them access all areas. It also moves the location of the ODB port as well.
@weymouthjohn

@@davemorris6747 That's exactly what I've added to all the usual defences. The OBD port is the way these scrotes stop the alarm and overcome the immobiliser. Putting it in a small metal lock box makes it v difficult for them.
