Tinderbox House is more than just a dwelling; it's a harmonious interplay between nature and human ingenuity. Nestled on a rugged Tasmanian coast, the house is a testament to sustainable living and a deep respect for the environment. The site, a challenging terrain marked by bushfire risk and intricate ecological layers, presented a formidable canvas for the architects. The design journey was an exploration of passive solar principles, guided by the remnants of a previous, unbuilt house. An underground cellar, a relic of the past, offered a clue to the house's potential location. The initial concept of an inward-facing courtyard, maximizing sunlight, was soon discarded in favor of the clients' desire for expansive ocean views
