My name is not Scott it’s Philip and I believe this was recorded April May 1992 at the Mason jar in Phoenix Arizona at the time I was just starting out and only about 22 years old this happen to be a show that my boss picked up at the lilies fair and came in with as a surprise hence the drum set in the background they were opening for someone else their album had not been released and it was hitting in about two weeks and they were on lithosphere on side stage

Oh and I didn’t record it that’s a camera with a microphone in the front row that’s blowback from the monitors and as you can hear no delay until the very end out front but it was a small room 150 to 200 people and Scott could carry that fucking room no problem

Excellent version of this live when Scott was young and healthy. Not long before all the erratic behavior that would soon take its toll on the band. As far as comparisons go everybody sounds like somebody. STP musical progression was astounding from album to album. No this was not a grunge band. For those of you wanting to write them off as a Pearl Jam rip-off or a comparison to Alice in Chains that matter. That's fine. You don't know what you're missing. To me this was the finest band of the 90s. You can hear anything from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin and heavier. From Dead and Bloated to Atlanta and all the way to Jean Genie. He could morph into any style Scott Weiland was a vocal chameleon beyond comparison. All the true STP fans are in the know. Scott had a way of reaching into your soul regardless of what you thought of his character. Musically Scott's loss is one of the hardest I've ever had to deal with. The catalog of Music he left us with is treasured and I don't envy anyone that tries to fill his shoes. Between the stage presence and his voice there can be no replacement. Rest in peace Scott!!!

Weiland. Layne and Chris Cornell too. Those 3 were the big boys. I was lucky enough to see them all in concert in the 90's and they didn't need a studio, sound engineer or auto tune. Just give them a microphone and they're good to go.

@@twicebitten6395 - I envy you getting to see them all as I was a little too young at the time. That's what I find so depressing about music now though...hardly anyone writes their own music and they rely on technology rather than talent. With auto-tune and all the software available now they can make Roseanne Barr sound like Mariah Carey in the studio. Even the rare artists now that can sing usually lip sync or pretend to play instruments to a pre-recorded track at their live shows.

If I was stronger I could be a mountain range If night was longer Could I escape the day? Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide Sing the song or keep it inside Bought the farm, but the farmer done died Sing that song, sing that song inside I wanna be as big as a mountain I wanna fly as high as the sun I wanna know what the rent's like in heaven I wanna know where the river... @@pattyconley4096 girl, you made me cry. He and Dean, mostly, were bonafide friends at the time. I will miss his extreme sweetness towards me, til the day I die. Oh, I certainly saw him be less than sweet sometimes!! 😝. But I realized fairly recently, it was to guys, EVERY time! He shocked me once in L.A. when the band and my bf at the time, and I were chatting amicably backstage without any of the eventual hangers-on, and two guys came into their dressing room to grab beers. We were clear across a large room, but he swiftly threw a bottle at them and barked about stealing their beer! I quickly said, "Hey, I came in with this!!". He answered immediately, "Oh you guys can always have anything you want!". It was an extreme reaction from him. In hindsight, I think Scott always turned ugly anytime he PERCEIVED a male to have the white male privilege attitude. Im certain now, that it was a fierce survival mechanism brought on by being raped by a football player in his h.s. locker room. 😭🥺. The poor damaged needy soul had harsh demons. And I know plenty of unsuspecting dudes caught the brunt of it. But he was wildly in love with the entire female sex. 🤩. He was beautiful, and I so wish he was still making his mark on the world - in REAL TIME, I mean. (And yes, SCottie WAS perfect then, in my eyes. He was already a mess, but what a lovely one at that. Until Gibby shot him up during this tour. His addictions, the anorexia, it all went balls out afterwards. Fuck!)
