When I moved into an apartment with my 4 kids after we left homeless shelter in 2017 the place needed help. I used money from a car accident payment to shop thrift and Walmart to make the place a home.

Thank you so much for showing the can of green chillies. Much appreciated! Nope.... we can't buy them here but wish we could! We also can't buy canned chicken, except for the teeny tiny cans of chicken but they're super expensive! Funny how different foods can be in different countries! I do a very basic menu but it's after shopping & to make sure we use up foods in the fridge & don't have to think each night!! Leftovers is once per week at least & it's our fave night, which we had tonight. Our wedding was an afternoon tea that our church women's group catered for & was super delicious! No tables so people could mingle & done very cheaply but was lovely. 🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Dinner tonight is cheeseburgers and homemade French Fries. The cheese was in the freezer from a sale in Dec. last year, the hamburger we got when we bought our 1/4 cow in Sept. and the 2 potatoes were in a 10 lb bag for $5. I had a home canned green beans from 2019 that I opened too. Pretty cheap and so good. Burgers and fries are one of my husband's favorite meals. It cost me about $6.00. And the 1lb of beef made 4 burgers. I will eat one, he may eat 2. So 2 meals for $6.00. Thank you for all your help!

Tawara, tonight I am making oven fried chicken, (or shake and bake, homemade). I use mayo and seasoned panko crumbs. I am making 3 pieces and will have two pieces left, for future meals (tomorrow and the next day). I am making 3 pieces, instead of the 6 that came in the bag of frozen, bone-in chicken thighs. These pieces are huge, so may even cut them in half and use a half each day for lunch also. This is something I could eat every day. I am also having "leftover" potato salad I made for dinner yesterday. I made plenty because it is so warm outside and anytime I can have an evening without cooking several dishes, I am ahead of the game. Once I used the first can of the chopped chilis in a pork posole, I was hooked on those canned peppers. They are very flavorful. Hey! I've got on for you. My grandmother was married twice. My real grandfather died in WWI and was buried in the cemetery. My grandmother is buried beside him, and her 2nd husband (the only grandfather I ever knew) is buried beside her. That's fine, I have no problem with that. Now along comes my mother, and she is buried at the feet of those 3. Big family hullabaloo because my uncle thought my mother had made arrangements to "kick" her father (1st husband) out of the plot to put her in. The funeral director had to assure him that wasn't going to be the case, and I had to get my aunt (daughter of 2nd husband) to agree to allow my mother to be buried there. My aunt said she was being buried next to her husband, and my uncle and his wife had already purchased their plots also, so no one was going to be using that plot. And...my younger sister who was in "charge" of this fiasco, sent me to smooth it all over and get the agreements...she doesn't speak to my aunt. Family dynamics at their worst. I was just trying to stay away from it all, and here I get thrown in the middle... I escaped NJ 5 years ago, have not looked back, or longed for the "good ole' days".

Have you ever thought of selling your books on Amazon? When I get married I want to have an inexpensive wedding. I already have dress that I can use. I bought it for $70. I bought it awhile ago while traveling because I like the color, but it’s so nice I could wear as a wedding dress as well. I want to a have pot luck and have everyone sign up to bring something. I like the snack idea, too. However, I really like potlucks. It’s like a surprise and sometimes the things people bring are really good. I would have the venue for the reception and ceremony at the same place. Not sure what I would do about the cake, but the only thing I would go all out on is the photographer. That would probably be my biggest expense. Also, I have heard of couples asking guests to pay for their plate if they want to come to the reception. They explain that are having their wedding on budget and trying not to start their marriage off in debt. Therefore, they are asking the guests to pay for their plate. I think this is also great idea.

I was so upset with my old fashioned rubbish analog baking scales when I was trying to measure out flour and oats for a bread recipe . So pathetically inaccurate I nearly screamed ! So I've just bought I think an American brand waterproof digital scales. I didn't really know that you can weigh different items with them in the same bowl. I'm still learning to cook though so I will be very tentative about doing that ..

I would like to see the person of the View go to a gun range and try and shoot a mannequin in the leg from about 200 to 500 feet away. Just to see, it's not that easy to do. Plus, there shooting at a non moving person, well officers don't have a person that will be standing still to be shot in the leg.
