Because stupid shit is cheap, and a heck of a lot of fun. I feel like the people that shit on LS's in crx's and stupid power in cars that shouldn't have it, haven't driven them. You'll know once you do. When a car can barely handle itself and you need to wrangle it and learn it like riding a bull that is the most fun you will have in a car period. It doesn't need to handle well to be fun, it could be falling apart and be fun. have fun.

So I’m in between on this. I can see where unusable power is kinda a waste. But I do Hill Climb and we like smaller rally style cars cause of the lighter packaging and the power carry’s over more than a 4000lb road master with the same power. That said the chassis, breaks, and suspension is upgraded to the same extreme. But I will always have a spot in my heart for the backyard build that doesn’t care about balance or anything but brutal power and speed! It’s what started the muscle car era! 🤷♂️

Nearly 1.5 billion cars on earth for 8 billion people, of which the number of builders may be in the millions. Who cares who does what? What matters is that people are still building cars and hopefully improving as builders through the process. The last thing the automotive community needs right now - in the age of CARB, DOT, and EPA (and their international equivalents) cracking down on any semblance of creativity - is a group of members within that community gatekeeping what counts as cool and what counts as stupid. Let it be stupid - better than living in a world where we can't have custom cars in the first place.

Spot on, I personally don't have issues with ppl making dumb stuff. The issue I have is that the dumb stuff is what gets all the praise and glory while the functional well-built project gets crapped on lol Currently building track/street C6 Gs so I'm dialing in suspension, cooling, braking etc but that gets no love haha 😅

I agree with Tim. Ppl just do things to do things. For example that guy who put an ls2 in a G35 coupe. You think that thing handles better? is a good daily? It just does burn outs and can go faster in a straight line. If you really weigh it out it’s more cons than pros. But ppl have the freedom and yea it’s pretty cool to see things we always think about

Not all builds I like, but I can appreciate the time that goes into some of the off the wall builds. You lost your passion bud. There are tons of Barbie doll bs builds just go to sema. Mean while I am gonna get back to my Cummins swap on an unlikely car. Its gonna be ugly and fast.

I am consistently shocked by the talent and time invested in some internet projects that are completely useless. The really nice things are almost worse because so much time, talent, effort waisted. Like who needs a 1/16 size Ferrari that some guy machined every peice to make it fully functioning. Once done I wonder if they think damn I wish I could get those ten thousand hours back. That being said I have a 72 squareback time attack type build with m112k c32 running gear. Hiding in the back room of the shop. Side note functional areo is a very deep rabbit hole. 🐇

Becoming an adult for me was realizing that the best home brewed track cars follow the KISS rule and big horsepower builds on $1000 coilovers and stretched tires aren’t meant to do really anything. The fact of the matter is the dumb car/engine combos are for one of two reasons: they want internet clout, or the internet made them think it was the cool thing to do
