This adapter is great. I got 3 and used SDCards to upgrade mini iPod memory from 4g to 32g and 64g. Saves lots of money versus using CF Cards. Try it people. I learn that here. Great presentation. Thanks... This adapter is about $16.00 only on Ebay.

How is WiFi reception with this metallic shield? I am wondering, because at 2:06 one can see that the CF card cover contains a metal part, which leaves almost no free space for electromagnetic waves going in/out, because through the device is, unlikely, as this certainly contains a lot of metal, and right above the card ~70% of the cover is metallic, so only ~15% to the top left and ~15% to the top right are left for wave transmission. Sufficing in practise?

Do you believe that this same setup could work with Canon 5D (Mark I)? Canon 400D and 5D are from the same era so the internals/functionalities are probably very similar. Could link the specific adapter and SD card what you have?

To Paulhundreds. Simply put, the wifi feature lets you automatically upload your photos to a computer, mobile device or sharing site on the internet. All without cables or removing the card from your camera. Say I'm on vacation with my camera and the Eye-Fi X2 Pro 16GB. In my Canon A710, that'll hold almost 8,000 pictures. But if the card goes bad or I lose the camera, I've just lost up to 8,000 pictures. With the Eye-Fi, they're automatically saved to my computer or the internet as I shoot

I love the idea of an adapter, but there is a serious lag with shooting. With my CF card, I can shoot until the card is full but with a CF adapter and an SD card, the first shot is instantly recorded, the second takes 2 seconds to record, the third takes 5 secs... After waiting and waiting, I stopped using it altogether. (And I'm not talking about continuos shooting/burst mode.)

Technically the CF adapter is highly active (there are lots and lots of electronics hidden in there). MicroSD ->SD, DVI-A->VGA adapters on the other hand are passive. And as some of the other commenters I would also be somewhat worried about the speed of SD cards vs. CF (Which could be affected by the adapter in use) Which can affect the length of bursts that the camera can sustain. On the other hand that only really matters if one uses burst shots in the first place.

Thanks for the video, it's really helpful. I think I'll buy the adapter, since the eye-fi cards' prices dropped. It sure is convenient to be able to send pictures over network, but I doubt it may perform well when making hi-res video footage. I even had to replace memory card to do that, because the old one had too slow writing speed for it.

I have the same CDSD adaptor but after a few shots in the dreaded 02 error. This in either of my Rebel xTi bodies (400D to the rest of the world). I've even pulled the metal shield off the adaptor. It seems to be an overheating issue. I have two more arriving tomorrow (both stated to work with eyefi) and both apparently identical to the one in the video and to the one I have now. I hope that I can get it working, else the eyefi will sit til I upgrade to a newer camera.

I purchased the Transcend 16 Gb wifi but had to replace it 2's. The first time it worked fine but eventually the card became unreadable. I returned it to the store and they replaced it. The new one had two problems the first is that the WiFi worked well with a few files as I installed some software the card access became too slow. So i reformatted and re-installed the firmware. It worked well after but the card became unreadable when I tried internet mode, and that is what I purchased the card for for my gps..can anyone tell me what went wrong or if they had a similar problem? Also sometimes when transferring data the card becomes very hot, is that normal?

I have to disagree, if you look at the technical specs CF cards are capable of substantially higher speed over SD cards, (167 MBs/s for CF cards vs. 104 MBs/s for the absolute newest SD cards). Additionally CF cards are capable of larger storage capabilities over SD cards, (128 PiB (128K Terrabites) vs. 2 Terrabites for the newest SD cards). So while in your XXXD camera this is not as critical, in the XD and XXD cameras it is, due to their higher burst rates and larger megapixel count.

SD cards are slower than CF cards in a 5D3. You'll lose write speed, and worse, buffer speed. Fact. If you don't need to shoot jpegs over wifi for the mere novelty of it, then steer clear of SD cards vs CF cards in a 5D3.

This will really not work with RAW in any camera that Isn't as slow as the small canon consumer cameras. Typically a RAW file will be somewhere between 20 MB and 40 MB, depending on resolution, and that really takes forever to write to a SD card. I can only write just over two pictures per second, even though i use a fairly fast and expensive CF card.

While it is an amezing adaptor, but you got to take into account wheather it's type 1 or type 2 sd/cfcard convertor, and i really don't know wich type i should take ,BTW it will be definitaly way slower then an ordinairy cf card because of transfering & conversion process. The thing is,cf cards are 10 times faster then sd cards and with this adaptor you will never take benefit of this. It will be only great if they stop producing cf cards, but as of now cf cards are way better and not so hard to loose like sd cards!!!

SD cards r way way slower, the fastest SD card is 150MB, Lexar 32GB and you can get around 30 fast photos in burst mode, basically the problem is the erase and re write over refresh rate with SD cards, your better off with 95mb plus. Remind you the Canon 5d mkiii does not support those faster Sd cards too CF cards do NOT need 2 erase and re write over, its done on the fly, u get 75 burst photos before slowing down, and this is with a 30MB CF card, imagine a 95MB Lexar 32GB CF is da fastest
