It can be disheartening to watch some of the most popular design team members blow me away with some of their projects, only to find that the supply list is long and expensive. I even use it to remove scraps from the mat unless the pieces are really small, thus preserving the stickiness.

I have been so stinking happy with my Dododum! Every project has come out perfect! In fact my very first project I did with my cricut was personalize my Dododum bag. It comes with a drawstring storage bag so on the front I put "Stacey's Dododum" and an iron icon I got from design space. On the back I made the temperature guide since it has 3 temp options I made a chart and put the temp of each option to help me knowwhat settings to use with the various vinyls (seems like every brand uses different temp settings) anyway I love mine! I can honestly recommend it! If you watch it goes on sale too. It's often listed as a hot buy! Amazon will chose a color (mine was green) and slash the price 30% off! I wanted pink because that's my aesthetic but the grass green shade is super pretty and was $20 cheaper thank the pink! Highly recommend!

I've seen a birthday present from my husband (which I wasn't supposed to as my birthday is not til next week) - a Cricut Explore Air 2. I'm now exploring all the opportunities available to me in the crafting world. These are some of the BEST tips I have seen so far. As I'm in the UK I may not have the access to some of the stores mentioned, but we do have Amazon, so I'll be using that as much as possible. Thank you for your trial and error of products. It'll save us all money in the long run. I've never been a 'brand' person and love to save money where I can!

Hi, I’m new to your channel. I use the cutting mats you have just shown. They fit into the circut machine just fine, items cut out fine, plus, I wash my cutting mats with dish washing liquid. Once dry they are sticky and work fine. Thanks for all the great information.

Hi MGL...watching your video and I agree with most of your substitutions, especially STAR CRAFT!! I love it...it's like butter!! My question though is at the 2:20 mark you say you love STAR CRAFT for HTV as well. Does STAR CRAFT make an HTV or did you mean something else because I don't see a link below the video for STAR CRAFT HTV? Thanks!

It's so refreshing to see an honest video about this. I am a new Cricut User (Cricut Joy) and it's been quite overwhelming with all the material, extras and stuff...and it seems that all DIY KZitemrs were paid by cricut because everybody seems to recommend the cricut products and nothing else... Which is fine, I guess...but I was wondering if I could use just a cheaper Vinyl, paper, matt... So, thanks for this video!

Has anyone bought the Brother scan and cut and compared it to the Cricut Maker? I have the Cricut Maker and I’m not really liking it, or Design Space. I’ve heard such good things about the Brother. And I love the idea of just being able to scan stuff and cut it out….like scanning a stamp and not needing the $$ matching dies to cut it out, just use the Brother machine.

The ONLY thing Cricut makes worth buying, is the weeding tool. Everything else, especially the cutters, is overpriced, and very limited. If you want to step up your game, buy a larger cutter. USCutter has several for competitive prices. I now own the PrismCut 28" cutter. Fantastic machine. Sure Cuts A Lot Pro is great software for cutters, and works with PC and Mac. Also, get a REAL heat press, not that junk Cricut sells that's very inconsistent and a royal pain to use. As this video says, STAY AWAY from Cricut materials! Complete overpriced garbage. If someone needs a more budget friendly system, go for the Silhouette Cameo 4. It's MUCH more capable for the similar money.

Know of any Canadian sites where I could get some good prices on some of these products. Thanks for all the information and will continue to watch your fabulous videos.

Watch out for the nicapa mats. If you look at the 1 star reviews it says that the adhesive comes off on to your items. This is true, I have only had it 3 weeks. I have used it with htv, and when I peeled the mat up the adhesive was all over the carrier sheets. And forget about using baby wipes on them because the with very little touch the adhesive was coming off.

This video was filmed months ago, before any Cricut issues arose ;) We are not the type of company that would be swayed so heavily over something like that. Because we are not paid by or endorsed by Cricut, unlike a lot of other influencers, we can give our 100% honest opinion about the products they offer. It's our job to test and share all the amazing products we love, some of which aren't Cricut brand. Nothing against the company, as we clearly love their machines as well as a large variety of their products, we've just found better quality and lower prices of certain items elsewhere. We want you all to know you can pay less without sacrificing quality (and in some cases, increase the quality) by branching out from the Cricut brand.

@@MakersGonnaLearn I agree there probably are some off-brand materials and tools/accessories that are less expensive and perform on par or perhaps even better than the name brand. Just a humble suggestion, but maybe if the title of this video was something more along the lines of “Budget friendly Accessories and Tools for your X brand Machine” instead of “Stop buying X brand...” ? The former sounds like helpful/useful suggestions for money savings, whereas the latter comes across as click-bait and/or a slam against brand X, even if unintended. Peace.

We love Cricut! :) Thank you for asking rather than assuming, you rock! Years ago we only used Cricut products, like most Cricut users do! So because that's what we used, that's what we recommended. It was only a few years later that we decided to try a different brand of vinyl, and it rocked our world! We started researching, buying, and testing SO MANY different brands of our favorite products. Nothing against the Cricut company, as we clearly love their machines as well as a large variety of their products, we've just found better quality and lower prices of certain items elsewhere. Because of this, we want you all to know you can pay less without sacrificing quality (and in some cases, increase the quality) by branching out from the Cricut brand. Cricut has gone away from supporting their “fan base” to trying to cut their throats by the way of issuing statement that they will require subscription fees for this and that (its a whole thing) and the crafting community (which banded together holds ALL the power) has decided to STAND UP not only for themselves but for US! That’s MGL 😍
