In the end case, movement and over all engineering is more important than Laser module as the later is exchangeable anyway. The LaserMatic offers a similar gantry movement resulting in adequate speed. It also has a fixed honeycomb (even better as it's not mounted in a movable tray, but on defined stands. It would be nice to get a direct comparision.
@SteveMakesEverything

The Roly is a fine laser, but it uses a traditional movement configuration with three stepper motors. I you look, you will also see that the spot sizes are larger than most other companies, and it lacks, 40W+ and IR laser options. I don’t see the engineering being any different between Roly or Acmer, though both are better than many other brands,

I usually like your vids Steve but on this occasion there were far too many omissions that we all need to know. Spot sizes? Cover & tray alarmed but can they easily be de=activated should the need arise? Can a rotary be fitted and used and it still remain enclosed? Is it a steel honeycomb as I currently use earth magnets and would prefer to continue to do so? Is there a separate socket for a rotary or is it not designed for that use, being a Core XY configuration? Is it auto-focus and if not, what focussing method does it use? I hope you'll read this and address these points.
@SteveMakesEverything

Spot size isn’t published by Acmer but I will post them in the community tab because I did finally get them to tell me. There isn’t a switch on the tray to talk about, so I didn’t leave anything out there. I can only review what Acmer sent, so I didn’t talk about a rotary, but there is a socket behind the front psnrl to plug one in. I don’t see one listed on their site though. There is no autofocus, which isn’t a bid deal because is pretty gimmicky on diode lasers, I works but you can manual focus ten times faster without all the extra hardware.

I am about to upgrade My existing open frame 30w laser to an enclosed laser. It seems a straight forward race between Roly , creality and thanks to your informative video the Acmer 48w. The final decision has to come down to Noise (I work outdoors on a terrace in a block of appartments and neighbours are undisturbed by the Atom X30 operating. Happy to note from your video the Acmer air assist is quiet. Regarding all 3 machines I would swap out the OEM extraction for an Infinity cloudline for said reason. What is the noise of the Acmer fan module like ? Hopefully you have used all 3 machines and can guide Me towards the Overall quietest option Thanks for the video, or maybe not as I was down to 2 models 😂 Looking forward to watching along with the live shows
@SteveMakesEverything

I would pick your choices in this order: Amcer, Roly, Creality. The noise of the exhaust fan on the Acmer isn’t objectionable but the rest of the laser is so quiet. That fan would be easy to replace, but it works very well for eliminating smoke. The reason I’d put the Acmer first is because it has lots of flexibility with laser options. It’s easy to buy an IR module and modules can be swapped in or out in seconds. Not really an option for the other two. If you’re looking at the 48W laser, I think the P3 is the best cutter of the bunch and can be tamed down to 24W for great engraving at the flip of a switch.

@SteveMakesEverything
17 күн бұрын
@@IronMan-yg4qw That's one reason for sure. But I will point out that the regular price for the 48W AtomStack X40 or Longer B1 is $1700, and the Acmer P3 is currently $1800. Having used all of these lasers, I can assure you that in addition to safety, the P3 is also a far better laser in every other way - that's why the price is higher. There's no question that this laser is outside the budget for many users, but if this one isn't the one for you, there are lasers for every budget. If you want a $200 laser or a $500 laser, you will certainly find one that works well - I'll be happy to point you to some. In my experience you get what you pay for, but definitely buy the laser that is most comfortable to your budget. Lots of people think the xTool lasers are too expensive too (I think you commented on this in the past), but they work well, and have a huge community. In spite of having the highest prices, xTool also have ~38% marketshare, and there are reasons for that.

No autofocus but honestly manual focus is quicker anyway. The orange tint is one of the things that makes this a class 1 laser, so no glasses required. They have a dual module with IR and diode laser in one and also a separate 2W IR laser that can be swapped in in seconds. But the only acrylic you can reliably work with on any diode or IR laser is black. If you want to cut it you will definitely need a CO2

I'm very interested in this module. can you tell me the price, where I can see one in person and the size of the bed? thanks Steve

If you’re looking at a P3 just check out Acmer Laser’s web site and price out what you need. Keep in mind that a diode laser and a CO2 laser don’t cut the same things. If you were cutting acrylic on your Epilog, then a diode laser isn’t going to be much help.

I will watch it but if not my questions: I do like the core X-Y design but I'm not a fan of the screw on risers and I would like to see more on the roller assembly how and where does it plug in? I assume the speed is much slower using the roller. Is there a chuck assembly as I didn't see one listed on their web site and how is focus adjusted?
