I've had a particularly bad day today with my calf' .(right 1). I tried the exercise on 3 minutes 20 seconds.. Stretching my right calf that way was Mega painful.. The intensity of the pain is 60% lower.. They say "there's no pain there's no gain"..thanks for the information.. Painful but effective..my poor diet is my reason for calf pain

I'm training for a marathon, this video is perfect timing! I've been noticing that my calves have been getting tighter. I have one question: Should I do a short warm up before going into the stretches each time I do them?

Good luck with your half marathon, JoyousEducator! That's amazing! Warm ups are effective but not necessary. If you have the time to warm them up first that's great! If you have to choose between warming them up and stretching them out for the sake of time - choose these stretches. Hope that helps!

Do stretches before and after runs. Do not neglect to do cooldown and warmup runs. Your legs need those warmups to prevent injury. The stretches in this video are perfect for your tight calves. I do these stretches three times a day. Also training for marathon.

1:12 FOAM ROLLER: great way to release the tightness and fascia that surround the calf muscles preparatory to stretching them out. 2:29 SEATED CALF STRETCH: bonus for those of you who also have tight hamstrings. 4:18 STANDING GASTROCNEMIUS STRETCH: push on the wall with your knee locked out to feel a stretch back behind your knee. 5:06 STANDING SOLEUS STRETCH: unlock the knee slightly to feel a much deeper stretch a lot lower towards your heel. 5:45 STANDING STAIR STRETCH (GASTROC): stand on the edge of a stair so your ankles fall below your toes. 6:49 STANDING STAIR STRETCH (SOLEUS): unlock your knee slightly to feel a comfortable stretch in your Achilles area.

I danced for a few hours over the weekend over two days for the first time since May 2023 as I had a fractured fibula. My calves were totally ceased up by the exercise. After doing a few sessions of what you have recommended (luckily we travel with a roller) it is so much better, thank you. I also incorporated kneading the sole of my foot into a tennis ball.

Today I tried them and afterwards had like a burning sensation and tingling in the foot and ankle. I stretched well but did not overdo. I started working out and when doing cardio I was able to push myself to run 3 miles . Which is good for me because I am not very active . But now I can’t run because my calves get so tight and hurt so bad within a .25 mile. I am not overweight or anything . I’m hoping this helps me!

Thankyou! I'll get onto this right away - my tight calves put an end to a lot of my training as they would pull right in the centre of the calf where it feels both parts of the calf connect and i would be out for WEEKS. I used to love kickboxing and the road work that came with it, hopefully with a bunch of this i might have a chance to enjoy it again.
