She makes great points about needing to ask ourselves; 'what are we putting into our minds via media, movies, television etc.' It is all too easy to rationalize and normalize viewing unhealthy narratives from those outlets.

As someone who attended a Wesleyan university that had a desire to be an ordained women pastor, the Lord opened my eyes to A LOT of things, and I realized that women pastors or elders was not the path for myself or for women to go. During my church history class at the time, I learned about calvinism for the first time. Eventually, I found the reformed faith and the doctrines of grace to be solid and biblical. I found myself understanding more of God's character and His sovereignty in a deeper fashion.

So true! Godly women can and should be teachers: Teaching women to love & respect their husbands, & teaching children to follow the LORD & scripture. Our Christian God-given hierarchy is: Christ Man Woman “Self-empowered” women HATE this; I know! I was one, once upon a self-empowered time. Problem with Self-empowered is SELF. Jesus said we must DENY our SELF & take up our cross & follow Him. And anyone who turns back from the plow is NOT WORTHY of service in Christ.

People really on here complaining that Allie is a Calvinist when that's really not the most important thing. The bible says that to focus on things like that is carnal. It gets really annoying when one group of people says the other is completely wrong just because of their denomination or what church they go to. I grew up in a place where they often even go so far as to say that if you don't go the their church there's no way you'll ever be saved. Focusing on that stuff is what starts arguments. And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 3:1-11 NKJV Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I Corinthians 1:10-13 NKJV

1. Appreciate the conversation on certain literary fiction as being a sex addiction. I am not sure I have ever heard a Christian talk about it with the exception of the Gray series. 2. Thank you for the discussion on how we react to each other. A friend was REALLY put off by MacArthur's "two words" while I felt a little cringe but recognized this was a response to some "baiting" of the strict complimentarians. Social media was quickly divided into "fundies" and "feminists." Those reactions defame Christ, as does reacting without considering context. 3. A family member grew Wesleyan and it was a pleasure to see a theologian of that stripe. Because of my family member's fear of sinning instantly before death and going to hell, I admit to feeling uncomfortable with the denomination. It is refreshing to see that God is raising up people serious about His Word in denominations of which I am wary.

Most complementarian/egalitarian debates gloss over the qualifications for pastor/elder/teacher, which are synonymous terms in the NT. It isn't that a woman can't be a competent theologian (she should, as should her husband), or that a woman can't teach (she is instructed to teach younger and less mature women). The foundational truth is that the mantle of authority hasn't been given to women and thus they won't be held ultimately responsible for the care of God's people. That role falls heavily on the men in the Church and I can't imagine why a woman, regardless of her "gifting", would desire that level of divine scrutiny.

Here is the question I want know: I use to think, that no matter how different we are we can be friends, but when my 15 year friendship ended I found it hard to believe this anymore. In retrospect she was not a good friend, I reflected a lot on that relationship, tere were parts were she seems a great friend. She is bi and not Christian and Smokes pot. I became more about being a mother and wife and about growing my life and self in Christ. I struggle with this, because how can I be friends with someone who I do not approve of there life style and we don't meet even on a moral stance. At the same time, Jesus loved even the sinners and hangout with these individuals. How do I handle this?

I feel like I was meant to come across this comment today. My name is also Stephanie. I just hung-out with my old best friend this weekend, whom I’ve been friends with for 15 years as well. He came out gay in high school and I kept him in the church with me from 2009 thru 2013. Even if he was lukewarm, he has those seeds rooted in his heart and is not ignorant to the gospel… we were inseparable until he moved away in 2014. Moved back in 2020. We lost touch for these 4 years due to his abusive boyfriend. And he ambushed me this weekend with his new identity as a woman, going by she/her pronouns, and working as a drag queen. He even does newageism. He loves to astral project. I literally cried when he told me all of this. I am now grieving the death of my male gay best friend who is still alive but has become a new person. Did you ever learn how to handle this? I feel awful. But I don’t think I can be friends with him anymore.

I think it would be nice if you two could do the video on calvanist and armanian beliefs. I personally believe that both are wrong in some ways and right in others. I think that armanian beliefs don't give God as much sovereignty as they should but I just can't agree with the calvanists on faith being a work and on predetermination; I think those two a just biblically wrong. If those two are right then it means that Jesus didn't die for everyone and that ultimately we don't actually love and trust God enough by ourselves to chose Him. What's the point of Jesus dying for all humanity if God is just going to pick and choose his favourites. God reaches out to everyone (Matthew 22) and it is through faith that we believe in Jesus and we give our lives to Him. It is then God will give us the gift of grace and salvation. Everyone on this earth has an option to accept this gift of God but unfortunately there are those that will reject Him and then if they die having rejected Him they will be judged.

@@retrograd332 I do admit that I need to research the topic a bit more thoroughly. But my opinions don't stem from people that hate calvanism (I haven't actually watched any video or read any book that has this opinion) but actually watching people like Allie and then comparing it with scripture. On the particular topics within calvanism like predestination and things like monogists and synergists, I just can't agree with their view. Thank you though, I will definitely do as you say and do more research on the topic as a whole.
@MissMikato
4 жыл бұрын
@@retrograd332 I do not hold to pelagianism at all, that has nothing to do with my views. Please don't equate what I'm saying with that. Monogist and synergist mean to work, either only 1 does a work -monogist or 2 that are working together -synergist. This is why I don't agree with calvanism because they consider that even faith is a work; that you can't have faith unless God gives it to you as a gift (monogist). Faith is separated from works. Faith is what you have when you hear the Word and believe in Jesus, Gal 3:5-6 "Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? - just as Abraham believed God, and it was counted as righteousness." Faith is not something we can boast about as it is separated from the law, Romans 3:27 "Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith." Dont equate my act of belief in Jesus Christ as a work. I would read Romans 3 and Galatians (the whole book is pretty good) to see the difference between works and faith. I would also add that salvation (grace) is given to us by God alone, He offers all, this great gift. There are those that reject it and those that accept it after hearing the Word of God.
@MissMikato

I just read your first edited response, you are mischaracterizing me I believe that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23. But you have misinterpreted what John 3:16 says, that is saying that those that accept Jesus and believe in him will not die and go to hell. No where does that say that Jesus did not die for all. Many places in scripture it say the opposite of what you've implied. Romans 6:10 "For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God." If Jesus did not die and defeat ALL sin he would not have been able to say that "it is finished". Also I dont believe God is a passive God at all. He constantly seeks everyone. He does that by having people hear the Word. That is how we come to him. It is by hearing the Good News and repenting of our sin! I think this view leads those of the unsaved into believing that they have no chance to be redeemed, because it says that God only picks somes that he loves. However John 3:16 says the exact opposite "For God so loved the WORLD (that means everyone not just a select few) that He gave His only begotten Son"

What a lovely and informative conversation! I would just reiterate that the particular caveats of Paul on women are for the holy assembly (congregation) only. For women to make the declarations of Christ and preach the Good News in schools and universities, political assemblies, conferences, elder care homes, hospitals, women's prisons, and youtube postings (whether vid or comment) would be blessed by God and underpinned by The Holy Spirit of Truth. A slave of God is not the slave of man. That slave-role is determined to be 70 years, or 80 with strength, and then aeon upon aeon of sonship. amen (upon aeon)

I just don't care for the branding of Christians with different ideas because it just gets so divisive so quickly which scripture consistently is against. Like I don't care if someones a Calvanist for the reason of the theology, my problem is a Christian calling themselves something that one, is pretty much the name of a human being who didn't die for them and isn't suppose to be their bridegroom whose name is on their head(1 Corinthians chapter 1 goes in depth on this, also ch. 14), and two, is an unnecessary sector, division, faction. I don't understand why we can't just all let the bible interpret itself through the many keys in the bible instead of speaking our own opinions (which the bible says a fool delights in) so we can all be untied in mind and thought like Jesus prayed for. We need to stop accepting this idea that Christians can just suppose to pick a faction and that we will never be able to be untied because Jesus doesn't pray for niave or impossible things and we really need to make Gods will a priority if we wanna call him our Lord.
