I guess this track/performance is really the genesis of DOLL$BOXX. GS have pushed most of their heavier material to DB, although it has changed a little on recent GS albums as the chances of DB doing anything new seems remote at present. In the past GS have described themselves as an "entertainment group", which is why they're a little extra in the live shows. I think that can lead to some people not taking them seriously, so they seem to be toning it down a little to allow the music to shine. They had an issue where their two main vocalists were stuck at the back of the stage on drums and keys, so they needed to innovate to connect with the crowd - the current line-up doesn't have the same problem. Historically, Japan has taken copyright very seriously and the older/bigger companies still like to enforce their rights. The live performances and MVs are often sold as expensive extras on special edition versions of albums, EPs and singles, so they're not just promotional tools to generate interest - a lot of reaction channels don't seem to understand the difference in attitude. It does mean you'll struggle with a lot of Japanese stuff unless you 'deface' the video and mess with the audio. I'd say Sony and Victor are two of the companies to be most aggressive with enforcement. If you like punk, Japan has a lot to offer, from old-school punk to new interpretations. Quite a lot of the alternative idol groups are based on punk, be it musically or in attitude, and some of those can be a bit wild. A few are big enough to have backing bands at live shows too.

I completely understand the attitude. I actually appreciate it. It reminds me of what mainstream music promotion was when I was growing up. It seems like these bands still embrace physical media which I think is the easiest way to support the artists (which is important to me) I only pushed back on this specific video because others like mine already exist. In the future, I'm probably not going to mess with Victor. No big deal.

*DOLL$PIN* is another one of my favorite bands. Or is it *Gacharic Morpheus?* *Unlucky Spin?* Whatever they are called, I love it when Fuki and GS get together and make amazing music. One of the best collaborations in rock history.

I haven't heard any mistakes from them so far, except that Hana once started with a completely wrong song from the setlist. 🤭 There's a video of the ladies reacting to this out there (ID = d4LU-U0ZpYo) I think from a live stream they did. The reaction of them all in this situation is just fun to see. Tomo-Zo on the floor laughing, FCK completely in disbelief and Oreo reacts in a flash and exposes Hana for it directly verbally! 🤣 But classy as Hana is, she also knows how to react properly (after she wanted to disappear briefly in the ground for a few seconds).🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _Look inside the mirror of you. Guitarist Tomozo pass another audition for a major record company when she was in high school and became a professional. At the time, she was guitarist in another singer's backing band.

Just found this. It has to be the same audition, right? It was for this boy band Arashi looking for a backing band. They found 16 year old Tomoko Midorikawa who in a few years would become TOMO-ZO. I think this is the audition. www.bilibili.com/video/BV1vt411j7gR/

Hey Mota - I'll come back to comment on the reaction later, but just to say on Doll$boxx MV's, look out to see if the owner is Victor - they have the rights for the High Spec EP and these tend to get blocked (although as you say some have made it to YT ok, so it does seem hit and miss). The MV's from the Doll's apartment album are under King Records and these have no problem with blocks.

Victor seem to be clamping down on reactions to the GS/DB content they have the rights to since GS openly invited reactions to their newer material. They're a big old company and take a more traditional view on things. Copyright was taken very seriously in Japan, probably one of the reasons they still have a functioning music industry.

HG! So yeah, Shout Down is owned by Victor. I totally get it. The only tough part for me was having the crux of the video get blocked after I spent hours working on it. I ran into a similar issue with my Wagakki Band cover (I think that is Avex) It's tough but it comes with the territory, so to speak. The comment from @FourBleats is interesting too. I hadn't realized that Gacharic Spin had jumped from Victor to Nippon Crown this year. If Victor doesn't want to play with us, that is ok. And if Nippon Crown is encouraging this kind of marketing/promotion/reaction content, that is also ok. For me, it is really just about enthusiasm for great music.

Yeah was only saying to give you the info so up front you can try and avoid the blocks and wasted effort by avoiding victor stuff. Same does go for some older GS MVs unfortunately. Generation Gap for example is known for blocks. Live is pretty much always ok for both bands though.

They always had punk influence - If you listen to some Pink Panda (Koga's pre-GS band) or Hana in Spade 13 you can hear the raw energy. They also always had a knack to make their performances interesting. If you just listen to the audio, Hana's cowbell usage isn't anything to write home about. If you watch the vid though, the drum-helmet is something special. The helmet also makes an appearance on Ben-Jan-Dan, another song that is a live spectacle (too crazy for some) :)

If you like Hardcore Punk Rock, try OTOBOKE BEAVER, another all-female band from Japan. The songs are Hard. Fast. Short. Pick any one. I’m so happy these creative, energetic women are keeping Hardcore alive. BTW, they put lyrics and English translations for their MVs in the KZitem description section.

For more genres let's not forget their other two alter ego bands "Metallic Spin" and "Nosebleed" the metal band they portray in the movie "Metalca" (but those songs not perfect since actress portrays a lead singer who can't sing).

I think you've understated the amount of releases Fuki has had, it's 30 with unlucky Morpheus alone, and for the majority of time they were a side project. Fuki is close to about 130 releases.

@@maximushaughton2404 I believe I said 30+....So yeah. I didn't feel like tracking down every last project/recording she has ever worked on. And even at 30 in the short span she has been an active singer is still impressive. I can't think of any other artist with that large of a body of work.
