Installed on 2020 Silverado 2500hd with the L8T and 6L90 trans. It regularly gets to 192 in the city or heavy traffic, but always cools back down to about 185. First day I had the truck I noticed it at 210 just idling so I immediately put this in. This is in Wisconsin summer, temps around 90 degrees F. We have one in our 2016 Tahoe 6l80 and it always runs about 145-150 these days. I had one in my previous 2016 Silverado 1500 and my trans failed at 138k... I'm assuming I had a separate failure, because after clutch plates failed I had to continue driving 7 miles and temp got up to 195. Root cause of failure unknown, technician tried to blame the stl010 because "it's not factory" however I'm not convinced. Any thoughts?

It's a failed GM product. Read the patent. Also the tsb 21-na-199. GM wants to fix theirs, buy a license on our patent. Theirs doesn't flow at startup. Theirs, a pellet sticks or fails. We have lube~loop™ technology so the lube port stays flowing. All others block it. We win, you win and they lose from their own hands. A stupid idea is costing 1000s of customers millions of dollars. Our design, made in America. Accept no substitutes or counterfeits. Sure~Cool STL010® for the win.

Thanks for the replies, as I mentioned my 2016 is long gone and I'm onto the 2020 l8T with 6l90 trans. With the stl010 installed correctly I'm sitting between 175-185 at operating temp under normal highway driving. I can get up to about 192 when idling for long periods or city/ stop go driving. It does seem to be working, I think l8T runs a bit hotter on coolant so the trans fluid eats some of that via the cooler.

the TransLab / Superior STL010 Sure~Cool® system is full flowing on start up, helps to keep the fluid flowing and if the temp outside is cold enough to thicken or freeze the AFT the Sure~Cool® system's dynamically active bypass kicks in and routes the ATF thru the Lube~Loop™ that is inside the block to heat the fluid and allow flow to the internals of the transmission. Especially for short hops on cold days, you would want the features of the Sure~Cool as its... A. fully flowing on start up, stays flowing unless a restriction is blocking adequate cooler flow.

the average is about 120-140 in ten minuets at zero F, and could be quicker if you have the radiator trans cooler in the loop as it acts as a preheater for the system. some are direct to the external cooler omitting the radiator (oil to coolant exchange) and if you have that type it will stay colder during the initial start-up. cold fluid doesn't hurt a transmission, NO FLOW from the cooler circuit / Lube Circuit WILL. ours keeps flowing... the rest, keep watching the video and wished they would have bought the Sure~Cool®... and at 4500-6500 for a new unit... You will have flow that can circulate heat. Our bypass kicks in via flow rate vs pellet and a stuck pellet becomes a Cork. Restrictions and flow create pressure we use the differential to our advantage and if you bought ours you have that advantage. Ranges cold 130-160 when warm.

@superiortransmissionpartsi5357
2 жыл бұрын
It will run cooler and be protected from cold low flow/no flow at startup. If you have it in a flow thru type ( goes from transm to eng. To cooler back to transm) it will stabilize on warm up and probably run in the 140's to 160's...but ours will keep the bypass functional when needed. If you have a type that goes from the transm to air cooler to transm and does not go thru the rad tank, then you will run chilly at 120-160 dependant on how fast the trans internally heats it to normal operating temp. In this type the torque converter is the only heat source. In a dual system the radiator tank cooler is heating the atf as well as the torque converter producing heat. So some vary but no worries as the atf fluid will flow at -60. So no harm, no foul.

Check the gauge, sending unit, the trans temp sensor and the harness. If that's all good add an external trans cooler in parallel with your existing set-up. Otherwise you have a slipping converter or a holding element in the trans (clutch pak or roller) damaged or failing. It could hit 205-210 on an upward heavy grade but as soon as the load is overcome, (going down hill) the temp should go down to the 170-185 range if coolers are efficient and no trans internal damage. You need to add a cooler.

Depends on the why's, what is the diagnosis on why? If you fully rebuild it you need the STL-6L80E valve body kit, the STL012 pump kit and the STL010. The STL018 boost valve is recommended if you pull. Use those on top of a quality master o/h kit and a techm. Get it to a shop and see if they test flow. Also we have seen some "clear out" over time now that the cooler is flowing full time. debris naturally occur in automatics, when you stop flow it give the debris time to settle and over time restricts flow elevating temps. Also a second cooler in parallel will help at worse case bypass the radiator cooler and run 2 aux coolers for big loads.

if your temps are higher than the average 150-165 deg. after installing the Sure~Cool then you have some component slipping in the transmission or torque converter. the default state of the Sure Cool is wide open flow on start up. the factory pellet is still closed so ???? it will NOT open till 192 deg. nothing flaw here.
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357
2 жыл бұрын
Check the air dams and fins in the cooler up front, make sure you don’t have debris obstructing air flow. THEN...if the air path is clear, YOU NEED TO SCAN THE TRANSMISSION AND SEE IF ANYTHING IS SLIPPING CAUSING THE TEMP TO CREEP UP. The patent-pending Sure~Cool® system acts as a test device, as it removes any restriction to flow from a stuck pellet or a partially jammed pellet (that would stop or affect cooling flow) AT VOLUME, and since the pellet was removed when you installed the Sure~Cool®, it is keeping the fluid flowing, as our default state is Wide Open Flow. Unless you installed the Sure~Cool® out of order (correct order = dual o-ringed Cap, ball, red spring (little end towards ball and cap) and the orifice bullet with the O-ring that goes inside the block) and if that is order correct, then you have other areas to check. A. Inefficient Cooling thru transmission cooler (needs an external added) added cooler will bring the temps down as long as the transmission is in good shape (see B. & C.) B. TRANSMISSION component slip* (internal) ***Note: You may or may not “Feel” the Slip but the scanner will catch it on a road test. Slippage of this type will not last long as the unit will suffer demise. C. Torque Converter Clutch not holding and slipping just enough to not set a code but cause heat to creep up on the scanner. This too will lead to demise of the unit. After replacement WITH THE SURE~COOL® system installed, you can still have higher than normal temperatures on the oil gauge, if you experience this after install, you have another issue internally.
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357
2 жыл бұрын
The Sure~Cool® system does these features and benefits. A. Removes the chance the factory pellet will not stick closed or jam up destroying your transmission thru any fault of your own. B. Now allows, immediate start up with full flowing fluid thru the main transmission lines and cooler at normal working pressure and at full volume. C. Keeps a factory designed Bypass fully operational (if needed) and “not plugged off” (with a cork or a screw) D. Factory bypass is now used as a “safety system” (if cooler or lines are damaged or severely restricted) the bypass kicks in and unseats the ball and re-routes lube / working oil back to the Lube~Loop™ to keep oil flowing to the internals for lube and cooling. E. Can be used in extreme cold climates where fluid can gel and cause restriction to flow. The Sure~Cool® system keeps the fluid Lube~Loop™ flowing until restriction of frozen ATF is overcome and flowing at full volume and pressure. *Note: temps can still climb up some when towing or going up steep hills loaded etc. the STL010 will keep the flow routed when needed and is your sign (if temps get over 200 deg. To get it to a professional to ascertain what is causing the overheating condition.
