Just because people don't want advice doesn't mean they're unteachable. Sometimes the ones giving the advice are the ones who are unteachable.

FACTS!! I’ll add to that ‘or don’t be there’🤷🏾♀️. Sometimes you have to save yourself and not kill yourself trying to help others or being in an environment that is toxic to you in an effort to help them. God taught me that when He woke me up at 3:44AM one day and told me it wasn’t my job to save a person and also that He makes himself known to the person I was trying to save EVERY DAY in ways seen and unseen but it’s up to them to answer…I was like 😳 Yes Sir. Heard you loud and clear!

People always give me unsolicited advice even if I'm not drowning. The advice people give you most of the time is coming for their own fears and limited beliefs. So, even if my life might look like a mess to them I'm not gonna listen to them because I didn't ask for help.

I do agree. I’ve given advice or solutions to people I love and care about just to have my past thrown in my face or responded to with hostility. It was accountability they weren’t ready for. I could see clearly what was going on and what they needed to do, but they didn’t. I distanced myself for 6 months with them calling and leaving voicemails or texting to apologize and asking me to speak to them again. Now, they’re ready to hear the advice. But they had to struggle with it alone for a while.

Bro as someone who gave a lot of unsolicited advice and can admit fault and take responsibility, I have to say that you are deceived on being helpful. Giving unsolicited advice is a controlling move, always will be. It gives you a sense of power over them. If they take it, then you controlled their thoughts, emotions, decisions. If they didn't, then you feel angry, as you exhibited here. I am the same way. Working to improve it now.

Honestly this was the best advice my father had ever given me. I was saved early in life and even though I wanted to help my best friends, family or even random strangers they NEVER listened to me. I cried to my father over them and the frustration of giving someone advice just for them so use as a checklist of everything to blatantly disregard and then come crying to me to clean it up or help them. Since that advice every time someone got reckless or just got involved with foolishness I've taken breaks and put them at arms length. My best friend and my sister being the most shocked. I just told them that I couldn't bring myself to enable them anymore and not to talk to me until they got it together/ I just can't take those hits anymore. I was surprised they accepted it and that we're still on good terms. I never thought it would end well. Although they and other still insist that their lives were worst when I "dropped them"/ when i left or that my advice would have made a difference. I still worry and fret over them. I just place it in God's hands through prayer because I'm no superman; as much as I would like to be.
