Sadly it won't happen as the world and its occupants are becoming more and more selfish, egotistical, self-centred and me, me, me. Each year the tourists become more stupid then the year previous. After watching these channels for years I have become more cynical, but realistic about the situation.

@alexhaplau-colan5414 The man was on a PUBLIC footpath. Horse Guards Parade is officially listed as a tourist attraction and has opening and closing hours. The Household Cavalry Museum inside is also a tourist attraction and even has open days when they allow the public/tourists to meet the horses and soldiers. They are also on ceremonial duty only. That means they have zero power of authority. The horses themselves will NEVER see any sort of active duty. They only ever do this, take part in pageants like Trooping the Colour and appear at occasional horse shows like Olympia and Windsor. The ONLY times the riders see active duty is when they are deployed on active duty overseas or when they are helping out instances of natural disasters like floods or assisting police in mass crowd control or bomb disposal.

I think that more protection would be offered by the heavily armed soldiers and police officers than by a saber bearing horseman. These ceremony's are just that ceremonial. There is a historical element that is all. I think it is cruel to make these magnificent horses stand still for hours on the pavement. If it's not for pomp and ceremony and a photo op than what practical purpose does it serve?
@user-gg9lp3mw7k

Alot of other countries/cultures lack real pomp and ceremony, real tradition, this is what they are selling for tourist revenue. Sadly at the expense to the safety of the troops horses and the tourists. A possible remedy would be to allow just organized tours access to the sights, hold the tour guides accountable for their customers actions. Might be safer and more lucrative for all. I agree, poor horses.

The King's Guard is a fine tradition. It looks so proper, it's a living reminder of British traditions. But then you look at the slovenly crowds. Sad. The locals and tourists are so disrespectfully dressed they should just move on to the next Mud Run competition. If passers-through are to be allowed to pose for pictures, there should be a small area set aside for them. As things are, they're encouraged to get too close, dream up pranks and stir up trouble.

This fraud of a cruel show, needs to stop. Forcing those horses to stand on hard ground, with weight on for hours, with no water, is beyond cruel. They could at the very least lay down some AstroTurf or hay, so its not so hard on their feet. The bit is also causing them a great deal of discomfort. There should also been a barrier up so people can not get so close
@user-dl8eo6zc9z
Ай бұрын
@shecat1964 Don’t worry about these horses, if you had watched a few, you would see that the horses only stand there for ONE hour. They are well looked after as you can tell by their condition. They have holidays by the sea, and other breaks. In the hot weather they ARE offered water, some take it some don’t. Putting down Astro turf could cause a trip hazard. The main problem is the tourists who maul their faces, and grab the reins thereby hurting their mouths. Some quite enjoy the interaction with the public and others not so much. So don’t worry, if a horse decides they have had enough they are taken back in! There is always a hay net waiting!
