I think broodweaver's biggest weakness is the fact that isn't as simple as some of the "equip and profit" subclasses. With the SBMM lobbies and always thinking about winning or that precious k/d some people would be hard pressed to practice a subclass that requires more effort to be successful than others.

I used Broodweaver religiously last season, but immediately ran into issues this season with the loss of the incredible Tangle artifact mods. Much of what I considered so fun wasn’t the subclass itself, but the seasonal mods that massively boosted the utility. Threadings also just have terrible tracking and will just whiff for no reason sometimes. It’s just as frustrating as coldsnaps on Stasis because of how much they randomly whiff as well.

i've said that shadebinder is the titan of warlock subclasses; its ability to cut and control space is unmatched by anything that isn't a sentinel or a behemoth. imo broodweaver is similarly the hunter of warlock subclasses. the hunter controls engagements with tricks and traps: tripmines and smoke bombs and whatever the flip gemini jesters does. the broodweaver similarly has a kit of tricks and traps, their threadlings and tangles, which make for really interesting battlefield control tools. apply pressure, force mistakes, capitalize, and snowball. that's the broodweaver playstyle, and it's oh so fun. (plus you get to shout "go my little minions!!!" whenever your threadlings are on someone's tail)

Would love to see you give Strand Titan a try. I've found that Arbor Warden can make it viable in higher levels of play. Did really well with it in Trials this past weekend. The way the neutral game flows reminds me a bit of OG Bottom Tree Sunbro. Run the fragments where picking up an orb grants woven mail and weapon kills with woven mail make a tangle. Makes it a lot easier to chain woven mail from fight to fight. And catching people with the suspension from the barrinade is really satisfying.

I feel like warlock strand is good but anything that it can do shadebinder can do better. Distraction? Coldsnaps are faster and completely freeze people to stop them from shooting you unless they jump which forces them into the air. Stasis also has much more potential to shut down supers and has the best super in the game instead of needlestorm which I have found to have sketchy tracking at best.

Fusion rifles need a rework. The skill floor and ceiling needs to be raised on fusion rifles. The problem with fusions, is that in d2 fusions are hit scan. Ohk kill from range, to the body, without having to hit all the bolts, and even with the charge time, at the initial trigger pull kills faster than any primary ttk can counter. My solution would be reworking fusions to where they have to crit to get a kill if you dont have to hit all the bolts. But if hitting all the bolts to the body still gives the kill. That would mean having more predictable bolt pattern. Kind if like how shotguns got patterns but the tightness would be effected by stability and Recoil direction.

I agree that people are using the super wrong, but to be fair, it's also REALLY easy to counter. The projectiles move and track slowly enough that moving laterally is sufficient to guarantee you will not get hit. The same is true of the Arcane Needle: the tracking on them is really poor and they often miss through no fault of the user. If a person is peeking stairs for instance, so only the top of their body is visible, the needle will idiotically track into the ground, trying to get to their center mass. I love the broodweaver, and use it more than any other subclass now, but I think its projectiles could use some love from Bungie.

@@kalicula7718 Oh, I realize now I made it sound like the super was terrible, but I've also had pretty good luck with it overall. Even if the projectiles don't hit, the little buggers it spawns do awesome damage (at least before coming back to you, at which point they are back to being normal broodlings). However, in my using it I realized that people moving laterally would never get hit, and so now when someone else is using it against me, I know I can stop myself getting hit 100% of the time.

I hate how the class is so inconsistent; this is really a problem with warlocks as a whole. The class centers around threadling usage, however, threadlings rarely track or are destroyed before they reach target. The super is inconsistent as well; I’ve missed rooms full of people because the tracking is so weird. I know Bungie has a warlock obliteration fetish but the whole non-controlled abilities thing is extremely annoying. Arc soul, Stasis Turrets, Child of the Old gods, and now, threadlings. I just want my abilities to do something directly that I want like the other classes; I’m a bit sick of waiting around for my abilities to do anything.

I agree with your premise, but I'd argue you're also playing Broodweaver wrong. Grapple, especially on Warlock, is way too good of a tool to ignore. Going all in on threadlings with the grenade is unreliable. Threadlings shine at creating chaos and putting people in checkmate situations, they are great when they work, but you cannot expect them to consistently work. I'd rather build into the grapple hook, which opens endless possibilities of engagements. Mindspun also makes the grapple melee 1HKO very consistent, and with The Wanderer, you can loop those grapple melee kills into a guaranteed kill with a suspending tangle. Pretty much, I'd rather be in control of spawning Tangles with my ability to Grapple + Needle, instead of going all in on threadlings and "hoping" they do something. Grapple also makes the super better, by letting you reach the perfect position before the enemies can react.

I think broodweaver is really fun but it just doesn't do any one job as good as other warlock subclasses. Void warlock isn't meta at all but it's better at area denial. Stasis warlock is better at locking up and slowing enemies. Celestial fire is an infinitely better melee than strands. You can play it well, it can work. But you literally just put a video together pointing out every major flaw in the kit and how to compensate for it, and why work that hard when the other subclasses do it better
