I've noticed that the taillights of the Aventador & 488 Pista match up well with their respected exhaust tips. On the Aventador, you have a cluster with 4 exhaust tips in a line, and the tailights are made of 4 sections in a line. On the Pista, on each side you have a circular exhaust tip, and on each side you have one circular taillight as well.

the testarossa and many other 80s cars weren't necessarily so angular because of design choices, but rather because of the very underpowered computers of the time. Its very obvious which 80s cars were and weren't designed with CAD. Look at the 80s Jaguar XJs, they designed them by hand, but look at the AW11 MR2, it's literally a wedge. Often times though, CAD wasn't enough, so companies would get some subtle curves by going back and adding curves by hand, and the ferarri testarossa is a great example. There was most likely a very very angular 3d model someone designed, then sent to some artists to reimagine by hand. that's why it's not as wedge like as many other 80s cars, but it's not curvy either.

The "trending" wedge shape bit of the 80s was because of the oil crisis of the 70s. This caused so much loss to the economy that designing a car was proving to be extremely expensive. This meant that designers had to save a ton of money through the 80s by only keeping just the basic shape of the car as much as possible. This led to cars designed being all wedge shaped and simple looking. The Chevy Caprice and the Corvette C4, Buick GNX, Ferrari Testarossa, Vectors, Lamborghini Countach, DeLorean, Toyota AE86, Pontiac Firebird 1981... all these cars were wedge shaped but still had retained some of the performance characteristics just to sell something to the public. I guess that we could potentially see a lot of wedge shaped designs return post corona virus pandemic given how much production has been lost, and the many parts of the world is in a state of an economic recession and car makers being desperate to make money again, we could see a turn out of a new era in car design.

Well, to be fair: I think what most people that are not absolute enthusiasts referece when they say "those cars look the same" are not the details like angular or curvy, but more the overall apearance (size, proportions, etc.). This is still not entirely true, but due to more and more knowledge about airflow, behaviour on straights/corners etc., The overall apearance of sports cars gets closer and closer to one and each other. When you look for example at a GT40 on one hand and a P3 on the other, there won't be anyone who mistakes one for the other, eventhough both raced against each other on the highest level and were not that far apart. To make one look just roughly like the other, you'd basically need to exchange the whole chassis. Nowadays (ok, Lambo is a bit special), if you just use some Tape and color, and apply it correctly, you could easily make a Corvette look like a Ferrari and vice versa, just by modifying the small details that designers spent hours and hours on making. I hope you understand what I wanted to say and forgive my spelling errors (not a native speaker)

I think Super cars do look the same... but only when they come from the same brand. Like, it’s easy to confuse an Aventador with an Huracan, or any McLaren car with any other models from that brand. Each super car brands have their own very different style and brand identity. If you confuse a McLaren and an Aston Martin, your brain will certainly be considered smoother than water. The problem is that brands have sometime trouble differentiating their own models.

So I got a suggestion for yall. How I deal with idiots saying all supercars look the same. I take any one of their hobbies and show them using their own hobbies how things are different. Eg my mother loves gardening and argued with me that all supercars look the same. I went outside , plucked two flowers and leaves(from different plants obv). I went to her and said,”according to me, these flowers and leaves look the same.” And then I explained how different companies have different designs that they have been following through the decades. And now, she corrects ppl who say that all supercars look the same.

Bladed, I think you are just feeding those trolls saying this car is similar to that car, bla, bla, bla. Ignore them. They probably like shoes of the same brands, use the same smartphones, like the same foods. If they are willing to deal with similarities in other stuff in their life, then car design should be no problem. Designing is not an easy task and taking inspiration or adjusting from similar design is to be expected. If someone say that to me, I will just reply "why don't you draw your own design" and most of them will reply back "i cant draw"

Honestly, with the Corvette line in general, I don't just see angular or curvy. Honestly, I feel like every Corvette from the C2 on gives a mix of angular and curvy lines that work surprisingly well together.

The McLaren logo represents a kiwi (the animal), since Bruce McLaren was from Australia. It started as a kiwi and evolved to that logo. It's cool to see that a supercar is based on a kiwi😂

The reason they seem to all look so similar is because there has to be a balance between the form and the function. Most of these supercars are designed with high performance driving in mind and are engineered to do that well but in that same vein it tends to limit these vehicles to a handful of layouts. That's where these subtle design differences come into play and even the smallest design notes like McLaren and Bugatti using written characters to create body lines makes a huge difference between each vehicle.

Not tryna argue but 8:25 “such angles” * proceeds to point to a gentle curve around the top of the car *

Bladed, I think people are talking about the 2016-2018 Camaro ZL1. But I agree with you!

Even if the c8 Corvette came with taillights more like the Camaro's, it wouldn't matter. That style of taillight is becoming a common design feature in Chevy models. Even some of the boring models such as the Malibu or even the Equinox has some resemblance to the other taillights.

Cool fact, Pagani also sometimes does what McLaren does with their logo!!! The thin oval “Pagani” symbol is in the seats, the dash, and a few other things inside and outside the cars!!!

The first flying buttress that I really saw was the Lamborghini Muira with the beginning of the angular shape to provide a contrast to the rounded front.
