1) I bought a linen kitchen towel at Fix Price, but not for my hands. I made a chic bag out of it, which is suitable for light summer outfits.
At Fix Price you come across things so beautiful that you can’t refuse them. No matter how necessary it is, you know that it will definitely come in handy.
Recently, good quality towels, both terry and cotton, for the kitchen have been sold here. And the colors are just gorgeous. This time I bought a linen kitchen towel for 199 rubles, made in Ivanovo, very
I liked the drawing, I will sew a summer handbag from it to wear it paired with a dress made of stitching.
Do-it-yourself lace will go well with this fabric.
I really like the granny square technique; it will go well with this fabric. I searched the Internet for a diagram and chose the simplest one. I also bought the yarn from Fix Price, it is a little thicker than iris.
Any items decorated with lace look tender and romantic. Even the simplest openwork looks charming.
- Knitted 7 squares. I connected them with a needle and thread. The length of the strip determines the size of the bag.
- I folded the towel in half and cut it off on all sides. I stitched the side seams. If you want the bag to keep its shape and be more rigid, you can iron the non-woven side on the wrong side.
- I stitched the corners, their length is equal to the width of the knitted square.
- I attached a strip of knitted squares to the bag and pinned it to the fabric from the middle in both directions. Then she stitched it. As a result, the bottom and sides turned out to be lace.
- I sewed the inside of the bag from lining fabric.
- Connected both parts. I folded the edges over the inside of the bag and stitched.
- For the handles, I took a belt from my trousers and cut it in the middle. I made holes along the edges with a hole punch.
- I sewed the handles to the bag. Ready-made bamboo handles are also suitable here.
Just a few lines and the bag is ready to go out into the world.
It is perfect for light summer outfits.
2) A cozy soft thing for home made from an old towel. I made the pattern on myself without any measurements.
They learned not only to use old towels for rags, but also to make all sorts of things out of them for the home and for themselves. Washcloths, rugs, bath caps, mop heads, toys, dish mats and much more. Things turn out soft, fluffy and are easy to wash in a machine.
I read that towels last 3 years. But in reality this is not the case, I have examples that are over 30 years old and nothing else in good condition. Yes, all my towels are almost that old. This year I replaced all of them with new ones.
My daughter also constantly throws in “old” towels because they are tired and not the same color.
You can also make slippers for your home from towels. And this can be done in different ways.
Today I will sew cozy slippers, like socks, since they do not have a rigid base.
I used my own slates to cut out the soles. But it’s better to just circle your foot, because along the way they turned out to be large and had to be sutured.
The sole will be double made of 2 layers of fabric.
The upper part is cut like this:
- The sole was divided lengthwise into 2 equal parts.
- I placed it along the middle line to a towel folded in half.
- Where the heel is, I put my hand and made a mark 4 fingers wide.
- Next, the lines continued to the toe, diagonally.
- On the heel side, the line was slightly extended by 1.5 cm further than the heel.
- Now I marked the point of the middle of the sole. I drew a line, slightly rounded in the corner.
- So I made 2 blanks.
- I cut out exactly the same 2 pieces from another fabric. This will be the inside of the slippers. I have this beautiful soft biker jacket in cute colors.
- I connected the parts with the front side facing inward and stitched along the inner semicircular line, this is the entrance to the slippers. I turned out the details.
- I sewed the lines of the heels.
- I turned the blanks inside out and laid a stitch along the edge.
Now you can try on:
To do this, I put the top part of the slippers on my foot and placed it on the sole. Now you can attach everything and see how much to remove or leave as is.
I connected both parts of the slippers and stitched them together.
I trimmed the seams with bias tape from baize.
Ready!
