Olive oil is not good for cooking at high temperature. It's good for salad. Duck fat is the best to grill at high temperature (chicken, steak, etc.). You can find it at the grocery where you can find duck. It's a good fat. Ask a nutritionist you will see! Fine and expensive oil are good for their fine taste with vegetables, etc. It's not for the grill (like a steak or something)...

It is usually the same type of person who pushes organic foods and recycling. People often wonder why we should recycle, and the most common argument is that if we all did it, we could save massive amounts of money and resources which would in turn help the environment. My issue with this is that if we all went organic, half of us would die. Organic farms are so incredibly less efficient that if everyone on the planet went organic, assuming the distribution of food would be the same, about 3 billion people would starve to death. I guess that would be good for the environment as well? Anyway, rant over.

Because the market does not give a flip about our health. Research shows that canola and vegetable oils are heat processed to increase extraction rate, which makes the oil rancid. The oil is then treated, bleached, and died to remove the smell and improve the color (aesthetics). It was pretty alarming to learn how little the market cares. Not looking to be a tin hatter, but this oil topic is pretty nasty.
