It should be very easy to create a GUI Countdown timer. It's so easy most developers are not interested to do it. You can literally learn to program right now and let it be your first project. The hard part is to distribute it, so people can easily install it and maintain it long term.

Some cons about davinci resolve on Linux: 1. The only native builds are for Debian systems and Red Hat systems, everything else has some sort of long installation process. 2. You can't use MP4 for imports. You'd need to transcode it or just record in something else. Things to note too: 1. For someone that transitioned from using Windows and Photoshop, you can use Krita to be able to edit some PSD files out of the box. Krita has been surprisingly good for this.

You can use MP4, but it has to be 1 specific codec of MP4 that most things don't use as it requires a licensing fee

@@RogueRen All I knew is that MP4 is only available for the Studio version since the free version on Linux does not ship with it.

@@nikkoa.3639 No it can import them, I've done it, it just has no audio with the free codecs used by things like OBS. You can just use something like handbrake to convert it after recording though

@@RogueRen Ohhhh so that's what you meant, I didn't understand what codec you meant there. If that's the case, then yeah it's possible. However, I'd probably just switch my workflow to .mov or .mkv since I'm much more sure it will be imported

You can basically extract those files, (ar x [deb_file]) and arrange them together. If you faced dependencies issue, just install native dependencies, listed on that debian package metadata.

You forgot to put the Matrix adress in the description and channel information. Just an FYI.

I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm using Ubuntu 22.04. It's hard to find VTubing advice for Linux users because nearly everybody uses Windows or Mac. I won't be live streaming or uploading to any corporate social media site. All of my videos will be hosted on my own site. My gear list is in my blog post titled "Diehard, Defeatists, and Devastatia."

Did you know VRChat can double as a Vtuber tool when using Melon loader Mods? If on Linux a green screen world and a mirror can work too or a VR head set if possible.
@RogueRen

I've head of this, but VRchat is a lot more resource intensive and the only advantage is for people with an expensive VR setup

I use a Lua script in OBS which runs the countdown timer.

I unfortunately do not know coding, but that does sound like a pretty nice option for those who do know a bit of lua

I just was looking an old Puppeter video and was not very good, how it's now? Is as realiable as using open-see face/VSeeFace?

I haven't really used it since that video, I've just stuck to OpenSeeFace-GD/Vpuppr for my 3D model.

Using Gnome Clocks for the count down.. It's not stupid if it works. :D Not such a bad idea, I must say.. But I'll try out Countdown. Thanks! :D
