What about reef safety? I love that you mention vegan and animal testing--don't forget the reefs!! Please care about the oceans!! We need them and our crazy important reefs are in some serious trouble. Like...wayyy more than the snails. Buy abused snail mucin before buying non-reef safe sunscreen, please GOD. With the amount and frequency we're supposed to reapply, that is some serious potential damage to gigantic ecosystems home to literally thousands of species that are all very much in critical condition at this point. We don't need to be stressing them more with non-reef safe sunscreen. There are loads of affordable reef safe versions out there, and if you can take the time to go through vegan and cruelty-free for every other product, please, don't forget about the animals under the water!! Our actions affect them enormously. With 34k views in about a month, please put the same level of care into our oceans and reefs as you do towards vegan products and cruelty free companies. The reefs are entire living systems and home to an utterly insane amount of species, and all of the earth's reefs are in some trouble right now.

I like Korean sunscreens but I do find that they don't do water/sweat resistant ones a lot. I know these are supposed to be elegant and everything but in the middle of Summer, even if you are not at the gym or doing sports, you will still sweat like crazy. For me personally, summers get so hot that I start sweating on my forehead 5 minutes after I go out. Japanese sunscreens seem to have better choices when it comes to this, due to their humid weather.

As someone who sweats a lot, a lot of the popular korean sunscreens doesn't work well for me. That being said, there are sweat/water korean resistant sunscreens which I enjoy like the one from holika holika (missha and dr g has some which arent labeled water or sweat resistant but still kinda is regardless), but I think american sunscreens and french sunscreens do water/sweat resistant sunscreen better (stuff I tried from paula's choice, avene, la roche posay, biorderma were darn water/sweat resistant).

As much as I love the texture and look of Asian sunscreens, I've found they break down on my skin really quickly and don't provide the high protection my VERY cancer-prone skin needs. It took me a really long time and a massive amount of experimentation, but my holy grails are Laroche posay UVmune400 spf 50 cream for my face and ears, Blue Lizard Baby mineral sunscreen spf 50 for my abnormally sensitive neck, and Bondi Sands SPF 50 for my arms and hands (doesn't break the bank or leave white residue all over my car). Regardless of where you buy them the sunscreens always go through a rigorous testing. Neither japan and korea are less than the west in that regard. But something their sunscreens are less likely to do as well as the USA or French or Aussie sunscreen is water resistancy. Japan and Korea has sweat and water resistant sunscreens of course but most of the ones that got popular online especially among young millenials and gen z aren't, especially the Korean ones. So if you are outdoors a lot and or sweat a lot, the Korean sunscreen won't have worked as well as it would have if you used it for daily indoor use.

The Isdin doesn’t just protect against actinic keratosis but has a patented ingredient that helps to reverse the damage. The individual that developed the ingredient won a Nobel Prize. Doctorly referred to it. So as an individual with many individuals in my family that have had skin cancer issues, I was disappointed with the dupe. Ms. Bankson usually does better research. As an older consumer that looks for tinted sunscreens, finding dupes for tinted sunscreens that are not tinted, would not make them dupes.

I have combination skin (prone to dry), I have dark spot on my right cheek. I have to apply the moisturiser before using Blue Lizard. It left me white-cast, it sting my eyes, I have to double cleansing to removed it. There's one time I don't use the moisturiser, I put the sunscreen straight to my face after washing my face. My face went wild itchy for days, til I found it was cause by that sunscreen. I still using it (with moisturiser) whenever I do the outdoor activities. Throughout those months til now, I noticed new dark spots on my left cheek. I'm pretty much gave up on Blue Lizard. Did I mentioned it also dry out my skin (with flakiness), I live in mountainous Utah where the weather cold-windy and dry. I re-apply the sunscreen after 2 hours, sometimes I wash my face before apply it, sometimes I don't. The Paula's Choice cleanser and Cerave moisturiser really helping in combating the dryness. I've been keeping that sunscreen, because it's a personal habit to "use it til finish" and plus I was hoping my skin will peaceful accepted it - but nope. I love Asian sunscreens and use several, --Biore, Skin Aqua and Scinic. But for limited usage. Asian sunscreens are not tested up to European American or Australian standards. European Americans and Australians especially use sunscreen under extreme conditions due to weather, environmental conditions and active outdoorsy lifestyles that require standards beyond the cosmetic application of Asian sunscreens. If you are an office worker or just running errands, Asian sunscreens are great bc they are light and elegant. They do not stand up to the rigor of hiking, sports activities or beach and pool side use. You need sunscreens that have been designed to hold up under those conditions. Also if you have pigmentation issues, PIH or sun spots and melasma, you need tinted sunscreens. Asian tinted sunscreens aren’t really a thing. So a wardrobe of sunscreens can be very useful in protecting your skin. Personally for an inexpensive tinted sunscreen there are many drugstore brands that fit the bill. And anyone who hasn’t tried Banana Boat Light As Air should give it a try. It’s very inexpensive and was perfect for our Florida trips and can be applied on face and body. My kids reach for that one every time. Cheaper than Asian sunscreens at $10 for 6 oz you can reapply all day. Works great under makeup too.

This! Not that there aren't any sweat or water resistsant korean or japanese sunscreens (holika holika aloe waterproof sun gel is pretty good), but the vast majority of the ones that got super popular online/internationally aren't, so if you use it when you are doing outdoor sports or if you just sweat a lot, a lot of the times those popular korean and japanese sunscreens won't work that well because the product is literally washing off.

@@msk-qp6fn Agree. There may be a few, yes they are so expensive theres no reason we can't find cheaper w domestic sunscreens, bc they are not going to be elegant. Also, very few Asian sunscreens have submitted an application to the EU or USA or AUS and substantiated that they have met those standards so they can be distributed legally. So for me I'm going to stick with the higher standards of Western sunscreens for serious outdoor use. I agree that the films on most Asian sunscreens are very fragile. Hence more reason to reapply even for light usage.

Korean,Japanese sunscreens are good but i dont trust them with the spf ratings, so many of them did not actually have the spf rating they claimed in their sunscreens.

Switched from Elta to beauty of josean sunscreen. It's amazing, it feels like an spf and moisturizer in one. Plus the Elta MD always made my right eye watery, I have sensitive skin. Beauty of Josean is almost half the price and it makes my skin glow while providing spf.

America NEED to follow how Japan and S Korea formulate their products so we can have better selections. I own not 1 American sunscreen for my face. Only 1 is just for my hands lol

@Cassandra Bankson hope you're doing well. I've been watching your videos for a while now and was wondering if you had any updated preferences or suggestions for caffeine infused sunscreen with skin care ingredients. Anything new?

I recently got some K-beauty sunscreens. I got an spf spray on that’s amazing to set my makeup and to reapply. I also got a green one that works as an spf makeup primer when my skin is red. Both were under $25 each. I’m very happy with my purchases.
