Awesome video Peggy and Norm! Oh how fun it would be to just tour your vintage storage area in the basement. I’m so jealous of the organization and storage options. Your collection of ice lip pitchers is amazing! A few years ago I collected several pitchers but soon realized just how much space is required in storing them. I’ve since slowed down on purchasing them but they are still one of my favorite vintage items to find. Thanks for the tour and packing tips, it was so fun.

Hi Peggy Lou and Norm too! Thank you so much for sharing your packing and storage tips. I love having holiday and seasonal decorations, but I hate packing and unpacking because I have never had an organized method. My goodness, your ideas are going to help me tremendously. Many times I’ve skipped decorating altogether because I did not want to devote to time to unpacking my treasures, then I felt sad they were never enjoyed. I forced myself to put out my Easter stuff on Easter Day. I would rather do it weeks ahead so it builds the excitement and anticipation of the upcoming holiday. Peggy Lou, I loved your opening scene. That vintage dress was stunning!!! The phone made me smile 😃 Blessings to you both - I’m from Michigan so I understand your frustration with the long winter and lack of nice weather this spring.

Love your intro skit! So nice to see living in your beautiful living room...lol! So fun to see that you pack exactly the way I do, right down to the zip lock freezer bags, rubber bands, and labeling. I have 17 boxes of vintage Christmas alone, so I have to be organized to find things. And I think it's fun to organize! I use tissue paper to wrap items in, but I like your idea of using napkins. Just got a new Tuff Shed so it's been fun to reorganize everything. I live in Santa Fe, NM by the way.

I really enjoyed how you wrap and store all your decor. I’m going to show my husband your shelving. He put up two shelves for me, but the weight of my milk glass is causing the shelves to come away from the wall. Your intro was so cute! Do more of those!

Hi Kelly! Thanks so much for watching this video and writing to us with your always kind and fun messages! 😊 When Norm first started installing white shelving in the basement, there wasn't a design that starts you out with a sturdy bar, track, that should be installed across the top of the wall. The standards, long rods that brackets fit into, will all hang even height across that track so they will all be level. That top rod track should be hopefully screwed into a wood stud up there for the most strength. I hope that makes sense. We got it at Menards but other places carry it too. Best wishes for finding something stronger for your milk glass. Thanks again for your compliments! 😊 Have a fun weekend!

Very impressive storage areas and containers and great ideas for packing. I'm a storage person myself and I became that way because in my husband's and my earlier years we moved a lot and never once did anything get broken. I also just love the zip bags you're speaking of because I have arthritis they really help me be able to open and close the bags so much easier. Your idea with the egg cartons is a terrific idea. I am now going to implement that into my storage use. Thank you, guys. This was a great video. One more thing, I loved the introduction to the video. Really cute and retro.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I used to be able to organize so well, Oh, I loved it ( even matching socks, I LOVED and now I hate it) In 2010 I had thyroid Cancer and after radiation and almost a year of treatment it caused me to have HUGE problems with my abilities to organize. I get so overwhelmed and I cannot seem to be able to figure out how to do simple organization and storage .. I STRUGGLE SOOOO bad with organization. Often times I find myself crying because it uses to be so easy. I get so overwhelmed. I now have small children, 10, 3 and 1, so decorating especially with "old" nostalgic things for them, is so important to me. My Mom recently passed away, and using her things or finding things that remind me of my childhood and my Children experiencing these things is SOOOO important. But its made it very overwhelming for me and taken a lot of the joy out of it on a personal level. You have helped me SOOOO much. You have no idea how much I needed this. Thank you for saving me stress and giving me tools to do what I want and feel more confident.. Something else the cancer/ treatments and radiation took from me.. What little confidence I had.. To many it may seem like a ridiculous thing, but for me, its truly important bc of remembering but also gifting to my children things money can never buy. Precious heart memories and pieces of my. Childhood with my Mom and Dad who I miss so much. You have given a little more joy and truly helpedme be able to feel in control and at ease about doing these things to make super precious heart memories for my children. Thank you SO much. What a precious gift many take for granted and few would ever think to share. Continuing prayers for you and Norm and your Sister as you go through this time. Be Blessed my friends, in Jesus Name, Your friend fron NC

Thank you for sharing your packing ideas. I do something similar but you are far more organized than me. I agree where is spring. UP of Michigan same as you weather wise. I was in Rochester, Minn this week and just like here. Cold, clouds,wind hardly ever see the sun and many gray days. We have only had one really spring day. Sun and 60 deg. Mostly 30/40’s deg. Love your videos. I bought my daughter an ice lip pitcher she liked in Wautoma ,Wis for her birthday on the way home on hwy 21. Yellow and orange flowers. Thank you again.

The starting scene was so cute! I LOVED seeing all of your item storage, you have such a beautiful collection, I especially love the birds, horses and coloured glass. I'm a little bit over the ocean, on the upper east coast of Australia in Queensland, we're in autumn at the moment and are finally getting a little relief from the fierce summer heat...though give me a few months and I'll be complaining about the cold (even though most of our winter is only between 15°c-25°c)! I had to add an extra comment about security in your home. You mentioned in your brother’s estate video that his home had been burglarized. You have so many items that are not easily replaced. Although not every item you have is necessarily expensive, I know you have amassed so many items their collective value is quite substantial. Maybe this question is too personal, but do you, or would you recommend extra insurance on your homeowners policy for collectibles? You have been so kind to share with us vintage/retro lovers everything in your home.

Peggy Lou you can use a kitchen vacuum sealer to make custom size bubble wrap pouches for your small collectibles. Just use the seal feature. You can slide the item in and out and reuse them over and over. That’s what I do. I was ordering the pouches from Amazon until I had the idea to use my vacuum sealer. For very fragile ones you can double bag them.I keep a box of them in different sizes in my car for when I’m going to the flea market and yard sales.

I, ah... wonder? This is all in your basement? Um, I really am not trying to be mean because I don't understand collecting items which are stored away in an area which you do not see or appreciate every day. Items stored in bins? I could understand if these were for resale but I guess if they are for collecting you can't appreciate the very special pieces that you really love. Can you explain this to me or is it just an obsession?
@Crazy4Retro

The bins under one bed are Christmas and Winter (snowmen, snowflakes, evergreen trees). The bins under another bed are seasonal linens and seasonal clothing. The ice lip pitchers in the basement laundry room are all seasonal themed. They are on display along with Pyrex and other dishes that I use for seasonal decorating. My obsession is decorating for the holidays and seasons. For instance, a bin labeled farm animals are what I like to put out for spring and Easter in our kitchen. I store mostly in view, vintage birds that are all colors. They are rare finds and I'm grateful to show them according to their colors at different seasons. We're just not interested in looking at the same few items all year long when you can create a definite display with everything you have in red and green for Christmas and January, or black and orange for Halloween. I like muted colors for September and golden colors for November. I decorate for July in our kitchen and dining room only. It's all fun and easy for me to find things. I inherited my mother's and brother's vintage Roosters and chickens that I decorate with in the summer. Our viewers enjoy seeing how I display everything and just viewing vintage items. I've been redecorating to create ambience for my entire married life and decided to share our home and thrifted vintage things on KZitem in videos since 2020. Most people are enjoying them and the visits to our small home and many have commented that they learn about the items and are inspired to look for them too. Collectors are keeping things out of the landfills when finding them at thrift stores, garage sales, etc. They are supporting small business owners who resell them and preserving them for future generations.
