I remember when they first came into service, one thing I have never understood is that the 91 was designed as a dual purpose Passenger and Freight locomotive, but as far as I know, none have ever been used to haul freight. I have seen the 91 hauling express trains with the flat end normally because of a fault with the DVT. Most comfortable trains I have been on.

If most of main routes were already electrified, certainly these Intercity locomotives and their respective formations would see further use such happens in Wales at the moment using class 67 locos intead, despite not many Intercity electrified routes have the best track profile to cope with class 91 full speed requirements, such as thight curves of the West Coast Mainline north of Preston for instance.

Thanks to the American Revolutionary Traction from late 80s and mid 90s, freight operators choices have ever since in favor of EMDs not giving second opportunities to most of short life tractions of the 80s such as class 58s and 60s. New class 89 will be the final neil in class 91s coffin. Shame they are left exposed to the elements in accelerated detreoration state rather than beneath a shed roof instead.

We are still running old carppy 1950 and 60 diesels yet these more than capable locos are sat withdrawn mid life. Open access operators need to take them on and use them.

Please do not get offended but...ignoring the video title that clearly shows the video subject is not the video's author fault, although i agree these wagons and all rolling stock arround could have projection though. Just be more patient or get inspired with the footage, manage yourself to capture and share videos like these with us as well.

Are all these Class 66 there for maintenance?
@butikimbo9595

I guess some yes but the majority is stored due to lack of use as DB lost sub-contracts to GBRf and Freightliner to not mention the massive colapse of a variety of heavy industry and coal fired power plants closures for instance. Hope it helps.
