THE Met Office has issued a rare red "danger to life" warning as Storm Babet hits Britain today - bringing ten inches of rain in some areas.
The severe weather event will blast 70mph gales and is expected to last until Sunday.
The red alert is for "exceptional rainfall", where it is feared up to 25.4cm (10 inches) could lash down in eastern Scotland.
The Met Office say the worst effected areas will be in Angus, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
