Everyone who was filming both storms seemed to be standing well back.

The low clouds over the Prom look surreal...a good catch, Lyca.

I'd read online the weather pattern was going to be strange at that time so I went to film hoping for something good. I wasn't disappointed.

If my artist hero J M Turner could come back today and see what your film depicts at 2;40-ish t'would put crinkles on his wrinkles Lyca. He might even surpass The Fighting Temerare with that inspiration . . mayhap with the Isle of Mann Packet ferry fighting the storm but hey! I cannot fathom why we are not seeing thunder and lightning with this storm . . . it seems imminent but never comes. I happen to enjoy a good thunder storm but I suppose people have enough to cope with. That is surely a dark, deep cloud and well captured. If you did video reporting with documentaies for the Lancashire tv staion I would think about watching TV!

Thanks Eryk. It was hard to film because the wind was vicious and I had a hard time standing still. I had to use my little old waterproof camera too. I'm just glad I was there to witness it. the way the cloud moved over our heads so low down was amazing to see.

@@Lyca31 Just a thought Lyca; have you heard of gorilla camera tripods? they are ideal for the modern lightweight compact cameras, they have multi segmented legs that can wrap around railings and lamp posts etcetera to give a steady image. I do not know if they would be as steady in these storms though. Research prices as some are sold for ridiculous money, some affordable. some have magnetic feet. One solution is to have a tough length of cord [non stretchy] tie a loop that your shoe can fit through and a loop at the other end that your camera can just fit through. Length of total is eye level. Foot through the loop and hold the camera with the cord taught and the wind affects it less. Er. . . um . . . do not use whilst walking! :-)

@@erykfreethinker7147 I've heard of those tripods. I've thought about saving for one. I might try the string/cord thing.

@@Lyca31 I used the string idea very effectively - the cord needed is the non stretchy sort. Later I found a 1/4" whitworth screwthread bolt that ftted the tripod thread in the camera and tied the cord to that. Did a very good job for me on the Dover to Calais channel crossing! Some prices for gorilla tripods are extortionate. Avoid the second hand ones perhaps - they are liable to have been worn loose. Mine has a little spirit level bt none I have seen recently do. As they say though . . buyer beware! I have been told that there are two more named storms on the way, also there are warnings out for the Northwest of England specifcally this time. Rain and blustery wind - I hope you will stay safe to bring us whatever you will from whatever presents itself to you. As I watched the film you had shot in December and uploaded the other day one of the things I thoght of was Charles Trenet's masterpiece song "La Mer" . . . . aah! but for copywrite limitations . . . . . . :-)

Yep. Ciara had super high waves and more rain, but Dennis seemed to have stronger wind.

That was eerie. Spine chilling. Well captured Lyca and thanks for sharing. Mother Nature reminding us who is boss. I wish I'd been there to see that passing over. One minute doomsday, the next blue skies. I also loved you capturing 'Always look on the bright side of life' from the comedy carpet. Very appropriate! This is going to be a favourite for me. I'll be back to watch this in years to come.

The wind was stronger when the cloud was coming over the horizon. Once it was over us the wind wasn't as strong.
