this ball is way too expensive...$190 undrilled for a .029 diff ball

The IQ Tours have had those specs for 10 years and cost $175. Why is this ball too expensive but not those?

@@Matts10100 IQ Tour Ruby was the 1st IQ to come out $175. IQ Tour solids were about $140 undrilled for years. I bought one at $142 and then 3 years later bought another for $142. They jumped that ball to $164 about a year ago. IQ Ruby's price point is ridiculous in my opinion. You'll say, "don't buy it then..." Don't worry, I won't

@@Matts10100 My primary point though was IQ Tours have not been $175 undrilled for 10 years. The price jumped quite a bit

@@michaeljamrozy4299 being completely honest, I agree with what you said, I just think people get too wrapped around the axle on the core numbers. I'm not agreeing with the $190 price point, but the reason this ball would be more expensive than a Hustle or something similar is the coverstock and the addition of AI. If anything based on how old the IQs are, I'd be fine with this ball being in the $175 - $190 range if they lowered the Tours back down to the $140 range.

@@Matts10100 I get what you're saying...5 yrs ago, or whenever the Code Red came out.... that ball was $169 undrilled... that was pretty much where the high-end balls on the market were at. At some point, some of the big assyms went to around $185. Now any assym SPI puts out are $195 or $200 undrilled... some Motivs are $215. If they can get it, whatever...my main overall point was probably that most benchmarks are mid-priced. Even if you have a TNT or comparable around $165, in my opinion one step up from benchmark-type, $190 for that Lightning seemed sticker shock...6 yrs ago Marvel Pearl re-release was $169 undrilled and that's 6 yrs ago prices, so I get that...inflation is an emmereffer post-pandemic...I get that too
Well the cliche is there is no such thing as an all black ball dud. I'm sure there are but I have yet to come across one.

@@andrewweltlich9065 that cover is the difference. Works on just about every pattern... dry, wet, long short. I used the night road with that cover in a sport shot league - about 20 patterns and it was the most versatile out of every ball I had. You can shine it up, or make it dull.

Ball companies sucker bowlers into a trance to get you to buy every new bowling ball they make . They have their staff bowlers put out a review and they tell you how great the ball is. How many new balls have you bought since the 1st of the year I can say I have bought about 12 new balls at about say $250 or more for ball drilling and ITThumbs so I have spent around $3000 so far in equipment. Just a league bowler two leagues and tournament bowling I carry a 216 avg in one house and 221 in another. Bowling isn’t cheap folks .

No, this ball is not just a Hustle with a different name plate. ReX Pearl on this ball is a far stronger cover than VTC on the Hustle line. Having a similar core does not guarantee a similar ball motion, how much friction the cover generates combined with surface prep is the largest factor in determining ball motion.

@@Matts10100 Hy-road Max had a much stronger cover than a typical Hy-road, but it was still a Hy-road (with the same price btw). A Hustle with a stronger cover should still be a Hustle. Storm knows balls like the Tropical Surge and Electrify don't make much profit, so they prefer to focus on the higher end. By putting a technically different, but very similar core in the ball, and slapping a different name on the ball they figured they could charge whatever price they want. There is a price ceiling on a Hustle, but not on a "Lightning". Just to be clear... my issue is solely with the price. I'm perfectly fine with the ball and the name. It's just overpriced, by a lot.

I recently started bowling again after 25-ish years. The ball I used to love was the Faball Hammer urethane (late 80s and early 90s), I think. So much has changed over the years... I'm a older slower bowler so my speed is around 12.5-13.5 mph and my style is not high rev. I used to bowl in the area you did around the 12:20 mark in this video. Right now I am using the virtual energy blackout which is fine for me when the oil is fresh. But, I have a hard time with it as the lanes dry up. I am considering the lightning blackout as it seems like it may be an easier ball to control for myself. I'm 6ft 265 if that matters. Any feedback is appreciated.

I typically throw the classic over the first arrow house shot and 'try' to not move left as much as possible (I seem to pull when I do) but anyway, it's nice to see one of the professionals throwing those shots too it makes you more relatable (to me anyway :^) ) Thanks for this and the other reviews!!
