On a very warm Saturday morning, boberttrain831, lukasfols1, and I hiked up to Scranton, Pennsylvania, home to fallen flags such as the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western, and the Central Railroad of New Jersey, and also home to Steamtown National Historic Site. Today, the crews are preparing Canadian National #3254, a 1917 Canadian Locomotive Company-built S-1-b "Mikado" (2-8-2 wheel arrangement), for her first mainline excursion of 2012, with the destination being Moscow, Pennsylvania via the ex-Delaware, Lackawanna & Western mainline. During the excursion, there was a bit of a nuisance that caused the excursion to arrive late at Moscow, and the cause was a hard application of the brakes due to a group of people using an ATV, and parked near the tracks below Route 435, which is close to Elmhurst, Pennsylvania. This is very troubling, and the worst part is that they experience this quite often on the mainline, however not too often with someone as young as this individual. An investigation is underway. Regarding #3254, the crew said that she is performing perfectly, which is very good to hear. So please enjoy this video, and here's to a a great performance by CN #3254! Not too bad for being 95 years old, '54!
