ABOUT STORNOWAY
The Isle of Lewis is the largest island in the Outer Hebrides, and Stornoway is its main town. The town is located on the east coast of the island and has a population of around 8,000 people.
Stornoway is home to a number of historic buildings and monuments, including Lews Castle, which overlooks the harbour, and a number of museums and art galleries. The surrounding Castle Grounds area is popular for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling. The town is also home to a number of monuments, such as the Stornoway War memorial and the Iolaire monument, which commemorate the maritime disaster of New Year's Day, 1919, in which over 200 men from the island lost their lives returning home from war.
