I got held up at the US border for 15 minutes after spending 30 seconds in Canada. I had to explain to the officers that i was an idiot and after a background check and calling to the Canadian border agents they verified that i was indeed an idiot and let me back in.

👍👍 odd. I have had the total opposite view of what Europeans would think of an American since college. That is a lot of the reason I never traveled there. I can have people be rude to me on a vacation in the states!😂

International Drivers License is $30 at your local AAA office. It's like they say about guns, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I've driven all over the UK, Ireland, Greece and Spain and no one has ever asked for it. Thanks for the story confirming it's not a waste of time and money. 😆

You could have bought saws you mentioned in Poland, 353, 365 or 272, 61 just not in official distribution, in the internet no problem, new ones.

This isn’t American arrogance, or anything American. It’s plain old ignorance. Thinking the cop would do something different is arrogance. You were not following the law and think it’s comedy.

Ooohhhh... well aren't you just so serious. How many countries have you been to? And... were you there? Reading the situation? The looks on the cops faces? C'mon man. You know nothing of my situation. Stop acting like you know anything.

you say American arrogance but who does everyone come to for help when they get in trouble considering ive run into people and worked with people from Italy France England and Australia and they acted like the arrogant ones in America

See... what you just said was arrogant and ignorant. Please, please, PLEASE don't read this wrong. I am not being spiteful, mean, or negative. Just pointing out what I see when I read the comment. Many Americans feel as you do because their media confirms their biases. Every first world country has problems with immigration and has less fortunate countries asking them for help. It isn't just us. And meeting people in your country vs actually experiencing another culture... two very different things. My guess would be that these people you met spoke multiple languages and gave you the feeling that they thought you were beneath them. Is that correct? That's because they look at you as a stupid American. And that is exactly what I am talking about. Our arrogance wants to shout at them for being rude assholes. But... by 8th grade they likely already had a better education than you would ever have, speak four different languages, have better health because they eat right, and have a much broader and legitimate world view that you will never have. So, they probably did treat you like scum, because they felt superior. I am not condoning the behavior of assholes, only trying to explain it. Put it this way- pretty much everywhere I go in the US I feel smarter, healthier, and better looking than everyone around me in my age group. Almost everywhere I go in Europe I feel ignorant, fat, and aging. The rest of the world does not see us the way our media tells us. We are fat, ignorant, loud...and rich to them.

Haven’t been down to Ga in a minute. I have a buddy that lives on Jackson Lake that I need to go see.
