No checklists were harmed in the making of this video, RIGHT? 🤣

I once wrestled a plane with its parking break on (which I set!) for 10 minutes trying to drag it into a hangar in front of my CFI and all his friends from the military. Some say they are still out there laughing 😅

I sadly have a story just like this. Only it involved the autopilot. I made a brief stop to pick up nieces and, while waiting to refuel, my little nephew wanted to sit in the plane. Got in a hurry, fired up, doing my checks, flight controls won't budge, shut down, investigated embarrassingly way too long, finally noticed my nephew had moved every stitch he could including the autopilot to ON. If only someone had invented a thing to help me notice this before I ever started the plane in the first place! I'm still waiting...

😂 Great learning story Bryan. I bet you remembered that checklist from then on. Nothing like a really embarrassing moment to ingrain in your mind what you forgot to do. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friend 🇺🇸🛩️

I was driving on the freeway in the Sacramento, CA area. The car was being unresponsive and sluggish. I think I drove 20 miles before I realized the parking brake was on!

I did the same thing once. In my pickup truck at a landfill. I wanted to hide my face in the steering wheel as I drove home, but I hadn’t unloaded my truck yet. It’s not the machine it’s the intellect piloting it.

Part of my checklist is to never put the parking brake on. In fact I have no idea how to set the parking brake to "on" in my current plane. All of my previous planes have never had a parking brake that ever worked. Forgetting about checking your parking brake must only be a problem on an airplane that is less than 3 decades old that still have a functioning parking brake 😋

The problem is if it somehow gets set to ON, you may not have the intuition to set if to OFF.

As usual, this is really the fault of the deficient design of the SR22. On a real aircraft, the parking brake would not hold for more than 30 minutes.

Chomping on a cigar Joe Patroni would’ve gotten it out of the mud even with the brakes on!🤣🤣. Watch that clip from airport it is awesome! Airport ops: “ Joe shut it down and get out! Joe: I can’t hear a darn thing there’s too much noise. Hang on we are going for broke! Chomps hard on the cigar and Radar power then the 707 slowly drives out of the snow and onto the pavement Classic! Oh yeah I have one of those stories too except my CFI/owner of the flight school got out of the aircraft kicking the right wheel trying to get the “BRAKE to RELEASE” cuz the C152 wouldn’t move. Then I look out of my window only to see that I forgot to remove ( on the preflight checklist) the left wheel chalk. He was 6ft 4 so it was no easy task for him to fold in and unfold out of that spacious 152. 🤔 I pondered do I stay 🤫 and let him continue kicking the tire or fess up. I let him kick for a few more times then fessed up. Lol Always the best Bryan! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Great story Bryan! I can remember trying to figure out why the engine wasn't starting, only to realize after a bit that I forgot to advance the mixture control (skipped over it in the checklist). Definitely embarrassing - especially when my wife is asking if we should actually be flying in this plane that won't start....🤣

Howdy Bryan (with a Y), this is Chuck (with a missing G). My 1976 Cessna Turbo 210 Model L has 3 places in the Checklist, Before Engine Start, Before Taxi and Before Takeoff telling me to Set the Handbrake. There is NOWHERE, in any of the procedures, not even the "EMERGENCY - Airplane NOT Moving" section to "Release the Handbrake" And yes, my paltry TSIO-520-H with Intercooler, producing a whopping 310HP will taxi just fine, and even attempt to takeoff with the Handbrake on. Aborting the takeoff and going through the Checklist a third time, noticing the "Set the Handbrake", where I reached down to set it even though I didn't want to, I noticed it was set. So perhaps the Cirrus Checklist also omits to "Release the handbrake"? BTW, not sure setting the handbrake on Grass is needed, even without tie downs, it takes an F2 tornado to get the plane moving through grass on its own

Is it really bad piloting to bounce a landing a few times on the runway? I look at it as more of an efficient pilot, you are getting 90 day current with one trip down the runway. 🤷♂️
