Guy's like Tony helped me get started. I was working for a place driving a 6 wheeler and they had me come over after work and sat me in the old fleet star and gave me a list of trailers to pull out and put in the yard and others to put in the docks. Learned blind siding and got a chance to drive on the road. THEN, I got a permit. And went on from there. Took 3 guys for the Auto Articulate license ( NJ). Every time you get him to open up and tell the stories I get misty eyed. There's fewer and fewer left. The greatest generation and the old school drivers. You know one of the differences between now and then? Whether it was the service or business people had a dedication to whatever they set out to do. Safe travels and God bless you all.

Mike, Tony, that was an amazing video. My Grandfather was in Pattons Army Quartermasters same thing drove supply truck after taking shrapnel near his heart. Couldn't fight anymore but wasn't leaving. Thank you for the memories. My Grandfather spoke nothing of the war until shortly before his death and chose me to talk to. I have always felt honored he gave me the stories to have about his time there. As a little boy 70 to 75 I always thought him his brother and best friend were always mad. They just couldn't hear very well from the war. A very special group of men and women my Grandmother was in the Women's Army Corp built detonators for bombs. Thanks again Mike

What a great story reminds me of the story's my dad used to tell me about my grandfather Tony reminds me of him would be 79 now he grew up in millbury ma hauling ice and oil as a teenager! No truck license he started driving I want to say if I remember what my dad told me correctly around 13ish and the police would give him a hard time and try to get him back to school next day he would be driving again 3 generations of drivers / operators and a 4th generation who ran cranes out in boston on the other side of the family (my grandmothers side) used to drive to Boston everyday from grafton I couldn't get away from it I guess grew up around it and hearing story's about it and I love doing it not sure all ever make it to the level of professional as the generations who came before me but all try story's like Tonys and his father's are important and can't be lost or forgotten about

I had to go get a truck one time just above the Scudders Falls bridge in Jersey one time around 1980 because the driver got pulled over and didn't have a license. Trooper was there I walked past him , said hi, and I got in the truck and left. I didn't have Pa Class 3 (before CDL) either. Trooper never asked, I saw no reason to inform him.

The world war 2 story is awesome! Funny thing is my grandfather was in the war as well. He was very tight lipped too. He brought back a German officers pistol as well. We don’t know the story of it, but my father has it. Had to ship it on an American Airlines flight from California. My father disassembled the gun and took some important parts out to put in his carry on. A gunsmith reassembled it once he got home to Dallas. At this point I don’t know what the value is but I know it’s insured even though it’s not replaceable. Very cool stories regardless. Unfortunately my grandfather has passed and hopefully someone knows how the gun came into his possession. I know my grandfather told someone he did a lot of body clean up/recovery that messed with him badly. Also have a late uncle who’s parents escaped Auschwitz as a group of young children with parents who died. They robbed German tanks at night to survive. They later married/moved to United States. I did get to meet them as a kid and their stories were mind blowing!
