In 2012, on the one-year anniversary of a tornado that devastated Joplin, MO, a theater company presented two public readings of “The Book of Job,” the story of a man so cursed that he turns against God. It started a community conversation that continues today. The reading was produced by Theater of War Productions, an organization that that uses theater and a variety of other media to address pressing public health and social issues, and performed by the actors Paul Giamatti, Arliss Howard, and David Strathairn.
