it is so fine I'd probably use it bony dry or literally with a single drop of fine mineral oil

The previous owner really did a number on that razor. But live and learn, or just send it back and learn nothing. I do enjoy honing with Arkansas stones. The feed back and consistency on the bevel are a pleasure to use. Thank you for sharing.

just realized it'd never be as good as it was and wanted the $ back. You can only sell any personal use item once, as a 'new' item. Everything for sale on our website is never used, with the exception of vintage rocks.

I need more practice to acquire the ability to feel bevel flexing.

imagine back in the day the grinder had to do that by feel, not only with their foot powering the spindle for the wheel, but the wheel was so small that the spine had to be in air and not the whole bevel was in contact...what a skill! For me the left hand fingertips helps a lot. I'd like to make a one-off shaping piece so a 4-6" length Ark could be shaped really small, as in so small you'd only use with the spine raised as a final step. Sure don't want to be the one to have to shape such a rock!
